So i Plastic dip my car today at the shop. what you think

SO today i was off of work and decided to head to work :toetap: but not to work . I went in to plastic dip my rear portion of my car it was my first time using this stuff and it's some cool stuff actually.well here are some pics and the process i took hope this will help other ppl on here.:flag:

First before you tape off the are you will need a clean car. Then you will need to clean the area. I used glass cleaner and rubbing alcohol to get in the tight areas. Then you are ready to tape. Make sure your tape line is straight. and i went overboard with the tape off , trust me this stuff comes off , just use adhesive remover

2nd step. Make sure you have alcohol wipes or alcohol handy to clean the tip of the can so the tip doesn't get clogged in between coats. The first coat you want very light, at this point you will be like wtf have i done to my car, don't worry you can remove this with power washer if you dont like it. leave 12 mins in between coats. closer you get glosser further you spray it will be more textured.

the 2nd coat you will want to go much heavier with the coat make sure you get the vents good, they are a little tricky. It will start looking better at this point but don't crazy, cause you will want to do one more coat just like this

Ok last step while your third coat is still went you will want to pull the tape off, this were i had a little problem. I found the coat was starting to come up with the tape so I stopped and use a razor blade and very gently went around the tape. Be careful you don't score your actual paint, if you do it very light you will not have a problem. if some comes up not a problem you can just use a piece of card board and touch it up thats what i did. Allow overnight for fully cure, i was able to drive my car home from work with out a problem.

nice job. makes me feel more comfortable about trying it on mine. Just to make sure....if you spray it closer to the paint, it has a glossier finish? If you spray it from further away, it has a matte, textured finish?

I'm after a semi gloss finish, so just wanna make sure. Thanks

From what I heard that's how it works , I sprayed it 12 inches or so I would do more research on the glosser finish. Mine is flat

VETBLSD 03-26-2011 11:59 PM

Haven't heard about this stuff. Is it a protective coating or what? Is it removable?
