Vararam VR2B install

Finally got around to installing the Vararam VR2B CAI and the VR Power Duct on my 2000. OMG! Took me and my son about 3 hours (I know, a little long, but what the hey - father/son time). Live in a rural area. After we were done and I had warmed her up, I pulled out of the driveway, turned left, punched it, and almost lost it. With the traction control ON!

This is an amazing performance mod! Well worth the extra $$. This car is TOTALLY different. Instant throttle response, at any speed. Much more aggressive exhaust as well!

Wow! I love this car even more (if possible!)

Vararam

Can't wait to get mine installed!

When I added it 4 years ago, that was my experience too.

Congrats

Yep; One of the best bang for the buck out there
Strange that people still "question" its performance gains

Congratulations.

If you don't have one now, I suggest you have a back up filter to swap out so as to not have to wait for the oiling to dry once you reoil the initial filter.

Second, make sure you meticulously look over the air filter seal between the filter and the clam shell design when pulling the filter for cleaning. The backing of the sticky foam tends to shift or lose its tackiness in hot or humid weather or simply over time.

I think that sticky foam design sucks myself.....I wish they would update the design to some sort of rubber seal, like you can seal the hood/front fascia with...the same stuff the trunk/hatch seals with. Weather seal?

Why wait for them to do it? You can buy any type of seals yourself in a roll and make it the way "You" want it. It's really easy to do.

Interesting. I honestly didn't think of that, or realize this could be bought. Have you done this and, where would you get this weather seal? Home Depot? Lowes?

Thanks for the suggestion

I don't think people question the gains, What I have read is they question the fitment and quality for the money.

If you install it correctly and check it out like you would any system,,,,,

30K w/ the VRB2,,,,Best C5 cold air at any price! Mine has proven itself!

Camjamsdad 04-28-2011 02:05 AM

Yeah after finding sand and a blade of grass past the filter I siliconed my filter into the top. Worth it for peace of mind and it's still easy to clean.

MrMojoRisin921 04-28-2011 02:39 AM

customworksking 04-28-2011 06:46 AM

bullmarket 04-28-2011 07:48 AM

Congrats. Very pleased with mine, too. Now go get a good tune. If you have an A4, change the shift points. What a difference.

JW Motorsports 04-28-2011 07:50 AM

I run one myself. The best intake out there for the C5!

Vetteman Jack 04-28-2011 08:15 AM

I run a Blackwing right now, but someday I think I will switch over to the Vararam. No doubt it is the best out there for performance gains.

jacks996 04-28-2011 08:16 AM

The installation process sucks but the improved airflow is worth it

I bought mine from MidAmerica when they were having a special online 10% discount sale. VR-2B netted to $355.99 & Power Duct netted to $106.79.

Install instructions really sucked, but common sense prevailed. It is a tight fit to MAF.

LOVE IT!
