Katech LS9R Clutch

Had clutch issues last week at the drag strip so I ordered a Katech LS9R clutch from RichieRich @ Abel Chevy. Ordered it Tuesday afternoon and had it less then 48 hours later. Looks like a nice kit. Waiting on my Tick SS line for their master to slave. I will install it next weekend in my garage. It will be nice to not worry about the clutch anymore.

Keep us posted with your results! We certainly appreciate your business. :D

Thanks for the order and let us know how you like the LS9R after getting it broke in

Will do. Going to start the install tomorrow. I was going to wait until next weekend and race one more time but it is suppose to rain all week. Looking forward to 4k+ launches on my MT drag radials without clutch issues.

Give me a call if you need a broken old man to help at all. Good Luck, I am excited to see how it works versus the stock one.

I may need to swing by and borrow a bottle jack to support the diff. Mine is too small.

meatheadgn 05-18-2011 12:23 PM

No problem. Whatever tools I have are yours for the asking.....I got lot's of hammers........and two cutting torches.:flag:

you're going to love the clutch. what size MT drags are you running?

315/35/17 ET streets for now. Will probably goto the 335 hoosiers once these wear out.

Got to pick up some amsoil tranny and diff fluid and a clutch alignment tool.

The normal alignment tool will not work, Too short. The Gm tool is a little longer for the dual discs and thicker plate.

My friend said he has one that works. He has been using it for all the dual disc setups in his 9 second c5z.

Great to see you are getting the car together for some more "AGGRESSIVE" runs soon :) Let me know how you make out with your Tick Master/feel/performance

Awesome! I did my own heads/cam install in my garage this winter on my Z, I was debating putting the car up on stands to do the clutch myself too. Does it seem like it's going to be rough to drop the whole rear subframe, torq tube assembly out of the car on stands?

The Zr1 is thicker than most dual discs. You should check with Katech.

Seems time consuming but not hard. Last night I spent maybe 1.5 hours on it to get where I am at now. I haven't really torn into it. No reason I can't have the subframe and a lot out tonight unless the girl wants to go out to dinner or something.

Come back to this thread when you get to taking out the bell housing and putting it back in and remember I said drink A LOT of beer before doing it! Actually something stronger if you got it :(

Is this clutch street friendly?
