MGW Shifter on new Z06

I just installed an MGW shifter in my 2011, Z06 with 3000 miles, I knew there must be something better than the stock (stirring peanut butter shifter). The MGW in way better that I expected, very confidence inspiring, low effort, short throw, no missed gears, feels like a jeweled rifle bolt. Shifts like a sports car should, really fun to run through gears now.

I love my MGW shifter. It's a quality product, and it makes driving the car THAT much more fun. I drove a friend's 2009 Challenger SRT the other week, I felt like I was rowing a boat...

I put one in my 08 last week, it’s a night and day difference. Love the short throw way better.

No rattle, vibration, or noise? Every time I upgrade the shifter in a Vette the action is better but it is noisy.

MGW has got to be the most underrated mod ever. Seriously, drivers DO NOT know what they are missing.

MGW in Z06

Used stock knob, stock height, stock boot, looks factory, the only change is it works like a shifter should. No rattle either, very neat, so glad I changed. Makes a great car greater.

MGW in Z06

www.mgwltd.com. I think there is only one C6 & Z06 model, but George is very helpful, if you still have questions.

how hard is it to install this shifter? is this a DIY project or does it involve some major mechanical work?

Stingray23 05-29-2011 12:55 AM

I'd also like to give this shifter a try but the road noise and rattling is whats stopping me.

spartanc6z06 05-29-2011 01:02 AM

I dont care if the shifter starts singing country music to me. Its staying. Its that good. Man how much i love it..

BOWTYE8 05-29-2011 08:22 AM

I bought my 06z and the owner before me installed a Hurst. It rattles big time from 4-7k. Shifts great but the noise.......:ack:
I may have to invest into the MGW new improved shifter.

 That is some funny s**t.
I love this shifter so much, if there is a rattle it's oblivious to me. My brother, dad and my friends notice how short the throw is.

It's easy to install, took me 20 minutes. Might take you a little longer I've installed 6 in c6 vettes. Take your time and you'll be fine.

I agree Very under rated mod Especially the 2nd to 3rd shift--never miss..confidence.

Does this install require getting underneath the car?

dkal70 05-29-2011 06:52 PM

I installed mine, instructions are included with the shifter. Installation is done inside the car, no getting underneath the car.
Hardest part is removing the center console, to get to the shifter assembly. Pretty easy installation.

u1arunit 05-29-2011 06:56 PM

How much harder or notchier is the shifting with this shifter?

Oldfly 05-29-2011 07:53 PM

Placed my order today for 1,
