Meth for naturally aspirated engines?

Hello Corvette Experts.

As a brand new owner I have probably questions which seem a little odd. This is my first foray into American Muscle and there is a steep learning curve.

I tried to search the forum but I did not really find a particular answer to my question.
While I understand that Meth injection is common with forced induction on the Corvette engine, is this something that is also used with Naturally aspirated engines?

Given that with a tune there should be power gains to be had and it might potentially help with Carbon Build up from Blow bye gasses, is that an application which is used or simply does not yield enough power gains to be a sensible investment?

As I am not a hundred percent familiar with the LS2 yet, what usually drives Meth injection when it is used without boost? Is it purely MAF readings or is IDC and throttle position taken into account as well?

Thank you very much and I appreciate your patience.

Thank you very much I must have overlooked that when I searched. I am glad to see there are MAF driven kits, maybe I can find one that takes IDC into account as well. I have the fast Intake which I understand already has a port for this. Thank you again

That's a great thread
I used it to install and setup my system, Spin and the guy's from ECS and Julio from Alky control systems have a great system.

We do offer a ECS/Alky Control MAF only kit. These kits are used in naturally aspirated & roots style blower applications. Instead of turning on the controller via a boost signal, it uses the mass air flow frequency to turn on the controller.

This is great for N/A applications where you want to run more timing (Or a compression ratio that requires more octane). Unfortunately, this will only work on MAF cars & will not work on a Speed Density application.

Entire system setup with the MAF converter box is $640. Any questions you have feel free to post or PM me.

Thanks

what percentage power gain would i be looking at for a N/A engine if i install a meth kit?

Good question...

Totally depends on the engine and setup. If you are going to use the meth to allow you do bump the compression up then it could be a bunch. If it is just for 1-2 degrees more timing then maybe 15-20hp. If you had heads decked to 13:1 or so maybe 50+hp.

this is an old post. but maybe that may be more helpful to me. anyone decide to go meth w/ NA??? anyone see it's value.
I was thinking about it so that when i would like to, run a bit more timing and maybe squeeze a PB at the strip.....instead of sourcing race fuel which it a pain to come by in my area.

I do it this way on some of the higher compression builds where there is 91 in the tank and E85 is not an option.
