Lending Car to Grandson

My Grandson graduated this past weekend. I told him two years ago if he helped me work on the vette he could have it for grad nite. He has helped me alot and even comes over to clean it when it needed it. :willy: So he got the car this weekend for grad. He even made sure that his shoes and shirt were yellow to match the car. All his friends were aware that he was going to get it and were as excited as he was I think. Even his girlfriend was excited.:D:D Here`s a couple of pics of them both infront of the local skateboard park. He wanted pics there because the park is a memorial of one of his high school buddies that died in a car accident last year.

Then he brings the car home about 11pm and tells me he got a picture that he can`t wait to show me and that I will definetly want to post it on the CF site. He was right. Apparently one of his fellow graduates had a 2011 Mustang and was cruisin`along with him. And then.......................:toetap::toet ap::toetap:

Actually all is well. He is a VERY responsible teenager. His buddy passed the vette and my Grandson just kept on cruisin`like his Grandfather taught him. (not like grandpa drives but as he was taught to) ...... then a minute later the cop passed the vette and caught up to the mustang and pulled IT over.
This is the only pic of the vette with a cop :rock::rock: I will treasure this photo. (screen saver right now)

Here is a final pic from the weekend with most (one 18 yr old missing) of my grandchildren and myself with the vette.

Wow Grandpa, Very cool of you!

I honestly don't know if I could do that myself remembering how I was at that age.:D

I'm sure you gave him a life time memory though and I'm glad he is the type of young man he is.

Nice screensaver too.

That is a great story. You kept your promise to your grandson ( don't know if I would have done that, LOL ) And his for respecting your pride and JOY! Great memories for both of you. Love the picture with the cop. Tony

What a lucky, and I bet grateful grandson! He wins the "how cool is my grandpa" contest!

dar322 06-22-2011 08:27 AM

way to go grandpa. mys as well give it to him now. i'm sure he'll let you borrow it sometime. :)

Well, you did it the right way: make him work to earn it! That way, he builds respect for the car and for you. I think the "Mustang" incident proved that he learned the right way to treat the car (and your trust).

Kudos to you! "Way to go, kid!" to the grandson.... That will be an experience that he will always remember with fondness and pride.

Very cool. My running joke is that I will get my '81 finished in time for my daughter to drive to her senior prom. She starts kindergarten in 2013.

Congrads. Very nice story. It's good to hear when they do well rather than the ones that only cause trouble these days. Well done to his parents as well.

Congrats Schmoky,

My son calls my vette the yellow car. He's 4. I know some day he will be asking for the keys.

Good memories. Get those photos printed and framed. It warms the heart.
