Front crank seal diy?

I have the FSM, but I wonder if anyone has posted a step/step diy on this seal. The FSM assumes specialty tools, as you know.

I tried LS1 forum but did not find it.

I have done this by centering the seal, holding it in place by hand and then gradually tightening the cover in the proper order. Same with the rear. Never had any issues. Takes a little bit of checking and rechecking when you are tightening but it is not difficult.

Is there a better seal than the stock? Does arp make a better bolt, I know you can't reuse?

I think the stock seal is good - it is plastic that melts to form the seal and is low drag.
ARP makes a re-usable crank bolt, though stock is fine if you use a new one.

Got under & inspected more, there is also a possibility the leak is where front (timing) cover meets bottom cover. I see some washing there & less so at the pully shaft.

I am going to try & get a wrench on those cover bolts.

Is there any oil pressure anywhere here or just crank case "pressure"?

:)
