Hood Vents

Im looking to add vents to my stock C6 hood. Does anyone have pictures of vents they have added to their C6

I think most folks just buy an aftermarket hood to the design of their choice. Are you talking about cutting and pasting?

Contact Breatless Performance. Iv'e seen a few cars with vents in hoods that were installed by them. And they look great.

User CPT Z or something similar had a hood with vents installed (two narrow lateral vents - one each side of the center bulge). It looked good.

Well, here is what I did on my last car: 07' with A & A S/C, cam, headers... was looking to extract heat and cool under hood temps. Worked extremely well, I had a lot of compliments, took some guts to cut a hole in the stock hood. PM if you want details on how I did it with basic hand tools in my garage:

Good luck, lots of great after market hoods if you want to spend the coin:

I believe LG makes a single louvered center insert similar to their LG Challenge Hood.

Always wondered what that would look like w/o a SC under the window. Needs a little more bling but kinda nice.

Problem with hood vents is that you need to have a finished trim around the edges. Normally, this edge will be higher than the vent. I think it looks terrible. Replace the hood with one that has what you are looking for built in. Looks much nicer.

Thanks for the input. I am looking to cut the stock hood and add some vents. Will look into Breathless performance too.

C7 vent on C6

I like the C7 vent...cheap as it is- and bought a stock hood.
I would have liked to place it near front of car BUT because of clearance issues (unless I mod the intake) I had to place it closer to windshield. Need to figure out how the edges will need to be done. It will take time to finish this sucker

Painted victory red w cyber grey vent to match my headlights. Still needs to be clearcoated maybe in a week or two. Thanks to members asking me about it. Its a functional heat release hood

Unless your engine is built and produces a lot of heat, the only thing I can see these for is for looks. Now if they are for looks think about the amount of water that can now get it when you wash the car or drive it in the rain, YES I said rain.

Engines and all electrical fittings are sealed. Water is not an issue at all. You can hose off your motor all day. In fact it is a great way to detail and clean the motor.

The biggest advantage to hood vents is aero. It reduces front end lift at high speed.

Had a vented hood for 6+ years now. Zero issues. Driven in rain, through car washes. Does little to nothing for cooling, does great for aero.

I can understand cutting a hole for a polished 6-71 blower or high rise with velocity stacks. But a hole to see yellow plastic coil covers?
