Has any one installed keyless remote entry on their C3?

I thought it would be kinda nice to have keyless remote on my '80. Has anybody installed or had this installed on their vette? A fellow in my town, a vette owner btw, installs keyless remote for around $130. Whatta ya think?

I would like it....I love the option on my truck !

Half the time I wonder if the battery goes dead on the remote, if I will remember what key to use for the door !

I am about ready to get it done on mine- should be a simple thing to do the only problem I have is that my car doesn't have power locks. No big deal though- I have just ordered in a set of OEM Accuators and the shop that is doing it for me said that the wiring from that point is simple. I was heavily advised to use OEM since the mechanics of the C3 door locks are such that they have been known to wear out aftermarket plungers very quickly.

Yep, put them on my 69 in conjunction with an alarm system and aftermarket actuators. It is a nice feature to have on the old shark, and obviously extra nice on the alarm as it arms and disarms the alarm with a touch of the button.

Hey, not to "rain" on anyone's parade but WHY ?

I'm fine with the good 'ole fashion key in the door routine & with a '68 - I never use the locks anyhow.... 'course I'm never more than 20' from it either ! ;)

Great feature to have!! If mine came from the factory with it installed, all the scratches near the lock wouldn't be there from the previous owner. :smash:

Bingo

remotes would keep more metal objects in your pocket and less near the paint job !

Anyone have any recomendations on which kit to use? I have the power locks but also want the remote too.

Starter interupt would be nice and to arm and disarm the alarm. Thanks JIM

I like that info myself.

Believe it or not, I got my kit from JCWhitney. Since I am runing a LoJack on the car, the basic alarm is to just deture the honest thiefs. Whitney has kits just for keyless entry, and full alarm kits. The Keyless kit only was about $20! The full blown kit that includes power door lock actuators is also very reasonable in price. I can't remember the brand, but it is a regular name brand kit, eventhough it did not say so in the Whitney advertisement.

I have a stock GM VAT (vehicle anti thief) installed. When engaged it kills fuel injection, fuel pump and starter. Since I don't have power locks, I didn’t want the hassle of installing '82 vette locks.

I don't lock my vert cuz don't want some a-hole punching a hole in the top to rob me of the $1 in change I got in it. Besides, most people can't figure out how to open my doors anyways. :)

Dah, where's the knob?

maybe I should try OEM actuators... I tried 3 different sets of aftermarket and none were strong enough to lock or unlock the doors...

No, but it sounds like a great idea. I don't have one on my C4 either! :) ~Juliet

I've had an Enforcer http://seco-larm.com in my car for two years. Never had to use the door key and no false alarms. (I have stock power locks). Definitely the most useful upgrade done to the car.

BTW: I've never understood the purpose of the factory power locks since they are not controlled by the door key...
