Broke Wheel Well Liner - Anyone else?
 

Hit a pretty good compression bump at about 70 mph and heard some racket. Looked in the rear view mirror and saw a 12" x 18" piece of my left rear wheel well liner flying up in the air. This is the black somewhat pliable liner. I imagine the tire contacted and broke the liner when the suspension compressed.

I'm running 345 Invo's. Anyone else have this happen?

Holy yikes! Is your Z lowered? Still 19" rear wheels and what is a compression bump.. I'm guessing it is a sudden rise in the asphalt? Marc L.

i am running 345s on an 18 inch wheel and i have cracked my rear liner pretty good but have not lost any yet.

Not lowered at all.

19" wheels and 1"wider than OEM.

The bump was basically a drop in the pavement where the road was poorly patched all the way across (i.e., 24" pothole across the entire road).

I have heard of it happening to others. Mine has bottomed out several time with no issues. BTW the 345 Nitto's are not any wider than the factory tires.

Had you ever removed it prior to it coming off? I know the GM push pins that hold this piece in get sloppy in the holes if not replaced once they have been removed. I now use a washer as well as a few of the holes have become elongated.

It happened to me after I put adjustable shocks on and set them to the softest setting. Cranked em up a couple of notches and have had no problems since. I sprayed sound deadener in there before I put the replacement liner in and it worked pretty well. I have since pulled the other liner out and sprayed the undercoating sound deadener on that side too. There is a benefit to having to replace the liners. Most interior noise seems to come through the wheel wells.

yurp, same thing happened. buy another one and make necessary change so contact doesn't happen again.

One of our drivers in the Corvette Challenge had this happen back in june at Laguna Seca :willy: The car really gets compressed in the "Cork Screw".

Those of you that have removed/replaced the liners before, are they simple to remove or does the entire quarter have to come off with it?

I've rubbed some holes through mine with taller drag radials and the car being lowered, need to replace them.

Easy to remove, do not have to remove the quarter panel.

A few screws and push pins and some tugging and pulling and they come right out. Then while you have them out you can clean a bunch of the dirt that builds up where you normally can't see it.

Right side: 15874588
Left side: 15874589

MSRP is about $140 each side with a forum vendor price of around $104.

What forum vendor sells these? This just happened to me.

Cultrag sells virtually all OEM GM parts. I'm sure they can get them for you at a decent price. and good service.

Would you happen to know who has these for the $104 price? Cultrag has them for $162 each. Thank you!

Not true, I measured and they are about 3/16" wider than the good year 0em 325

Plenty asked about lowering but no one asked about backspacing?? I see many tend to order different wheels and want that 'flush' look so different offsets are ordered. I have 345's on oem CUP wheels and no issues..........but not flush to the fender look either which I don't want

I spit 2, right and left at different times. Right side at SOW and the left on the street, both were 80+.
Running 345s with LG coilovers. All LG said about it is they spit a liner too when they did the 6x6 log video.
Since the LG coilovers don't have any bump-stops, I believe it let's the suspension go sub-terrain. Meaning the liners are the new bump-stops.
They're about $100 each, don't take much to install.:lurk:
