1977 Small Block: Engine block antifreeze drain plugs location

Trying to locate the engine block drain plugs to drain the anti-freeze out. Can anyone help me locate exactly where they are? Are they easily accessable or (like almost all other jobs on this car) do I need to remove a million things to access it?

Any help on accessing and finding these drain plugs would be greatly appreciated :)

There's one on each side, in the middle near the bottom of the block. They should be a 1/4" NPT plug.

I guess you've never worked on a newer car. :willy:

He may not remember, it was 8 years ago.

There's nothing wrong with keeping a useful post like this alive. This was the first hit on Google when I searched for this topic.

I was able to get the drain plugs out of my 80 L48. There was no gunk behind them, just slightly rusty antifreeze. The plugs were the original steel, which I will replace with brass.

Here are pictures of the locations to help someone searching for this information in 2027. Both plugs were easy to get to, with the exhaust out of the way. Just be sure to have a bucket ready, the water will shoot out further than you expect both times.
