EBCM help

I am buying a 2nd electronic brake control module to have a unit programmed with no TC/AH or TPMS, and am having trouble getting the right part.
GM part #89060341 is listed as the EBCM with a price of $791, GM part #25966977 is also listed as the EBCM with a price in the $400 range.
Which one is the right part that allows reprogramming?

Don't know of any that are reprogrammable at the consumer level with any equipment that is available to the consumer.

Part # 25966977 is the latest EBCM and is probably a Bosch unit since they chose Bosch as their supplier in 2009. The other one is the Delphi EBCM used from 05-08.

Thanks for the info.

A couple of forum members have had good luck with the reprogramming.

Isn't that thread referring to the BCM (Body Control Module) and not the EBCM?

The 66977 looks like the EBCM (electronic brake control module) that controlled my ABS on my C5.

Yes- Chris did the Body Control Module for me- not the Brake Control Module.

Thank you.

He did mine also...

Old thread, but I'm looking to replace my EBCM due to error code C0899 and am wondering for a 2006 car if I could use the latest version part #25966977 or if it's necessary to use the first generation #89060341 that were used in the 2005-2007 years.

It may be possible to use the newer model Bosch unit but you would need to rewire the connector also the 2009+ cars have different wheel bearings so you would have to change them out as well. So the long answer is that it may be possible but I don't think it's very practical.

I have a good used 05-08 module if you're ok with a used one, PM me if your interested.

:iagree:

Wiring could be an issue as it looks like GM also changed schematic terminology when they made the changeover to the Bosch unit. Instead of using numbers for the pins they use letters. Also the schematics for the new unit are different in other ways as well.

It would probably also require a modification to the BCM software so it would recognize the Bosch Module. There are some significant differences in features/performance between the two modules. I know people have updated 2009 cars with the revised Bosch EBCM so they could get Launch Control which was offered in 2010. However, I never heard of anybody who tried to convert an older car to the new system.

There could also be differences in the BPMV due to the newer hardware.
