Heel and Toe Gas pedal by Elite Engineering
I decided to give Heel and toe aluminum gas pedal by Elite Engineering ( www.eliteengineeringusa.com) a try installed it and tested the pedal today in my 2011 GS coupe.
Before, the brake and clutch pedals were there, and the gas pedal somewhere there in the deep recesses of the tunnel (and why GM used different materials for them is beyond me as the feel between brake and throttle is different and somehow wrong)
Now the gas pedal is right there (on your face!) with the rest of them and feels solid. Heel and toeing is tremendously improved, and it is also very quick to go from full brake to throttle as the pedals are closer to each other and travel and aim is better. Now punch the gas pedal with the heel to bring up the revs, downshift, dump the clutch and slide over for full throttle. Much quicker.
The only thing I need to get used to is having pedal closer to me by few millimeters (for my prefered sitting position) nothing a pair of thin soled driving shoes would not take care of. They designed it for it to be up more a little for it to be about the same level on fairly hard braking.
Great design and great quality materials, and it looks and feels so much better. For do it yourselves, don't even attempt to install it while the gas pedal is in the car. It took me about 10 minutes to remove the pedal off the car (driver side lower trim panel, held by 2 screws, trim panel below it pops out, 2 bolts holding the gas pedal to the bulk head (requires 15 LBS torque). The hardest part was, even with the gas pedal out of the car, sliding out the pin which is pressed in to take the old pedal off. After experimenting with vise grip and other tools without success, I used a C clamp to press it out. New one screws in, major improvement.
For anyone interested. I like to share the word, when I find a good product that actually works as advertised. |
