Parking Brake light won't come on = Convertible top no workie
Over the past two weeks the parking brake light intermittently does not light up, no matter how much I play with the parking brake.
The result is that I cannot operate the convertible top, which is a major inconvenience, especially when I want to put it up. If I drive the car, even a short distance and try again, it usually works. I've tried everything, from banging on various panels in the car (loose connection) to spending 30 minutes moving the parking brake into various positions with varying force, all with no success :( The only thing that seems to work, is trying it again after driving it a short distance. There doesn't seem to be a discernible pattern to the madness. Anyone experience something similar? I'd really rather not have to take it to the dealer. The car is a manual, so the parking brake switch activation is necessary for the top to operate. |
I'd open the console up and find the parking brake switch. Check for loose connections and bypass it to test the function of the switch. It is located on the right side of center console, on the lower front of the parking brake handle. See call out #8

Hey Jack IT did you ever figure out what the issue was on your Vette? Having the same issue with my Z06 Coupe 2008. Can't use my memory seats because no matter how hard I pull up on my E-brake the light on the dash wont illuminate.
It doesnt recognize when the parking brake is engaged or disengaged. |
