Stuff called Simple Green comes in a spray bottle. I get it at my local Wal-Mart. Spray on wipe off works great!

I have used WD-40 in the past but I have since started using this stuff...http://www.autogeek.net/dp320.html
It really is amazing... I also use it to detail my older cars/trucks. It says for exterior use but I used it to detail my F-350 and worked great.

I have had Brakleen take paint off rotors, I would not use it on the painted car!

I have used WD-40 and Simple Green with great success.

Adams polish (the white stuff).

comes right off and if that isn't safe for paint then we're all in trouble.

Haven't had a problem with good ol' Turtle Wax bug and tar remover. Am I missing something?

JDIllon 10-20-2011 04:29 PM

Lighter fluid and rewax. Half the price and really easy. JD

Never, ever, never touch your paint with brakeclean.

We use googone from Home Depot. Works great and doesnt hurt the paint.

WNeal 10-20-2011 07:44 PM

Wax will take it right off

:iagree: Works for me.

I've tried a bunch of stuff but works best for me is Nu Finish (the stuff in the orange bottle), works great. Apply generously with rag and a little elbow grease.

:iagree: I have has success with this and WD-40. Either wash or use a detailing spray after using either.

I tried WD40, Turtle Wax Tar and Bug Remover, GooBeGone, waxing, clay bar, etc etc etc. Nothing worked for the rubber on my car. Mineral spirits worked, but I was afraid of what it would do to the paint.

A buddy finally recommended Meguire's Ultimate Compound. It is a lightweight polish and you will have to wax the car after the polish, but it works. It took me three weekends, but my car looked great for Nationals.
