New Borla Atak, S-type II, and Touring Exhausts Available & On Sale @ MarylandSpeed!

We are excited to offer Borla's new Atak, S-Type II and Touring exhausts for the C6 Corvette. Available and on Sale! These systems have been totally redesigned for better performance and AWESOME sound. We have them on sale for the best price out there and are including FREE shipping! These systems feature redesigned mufflers and muffler orientation, along with better looking semi oval stainless tips. Each system is available as an Axleback, which connects to your stock or aftermaket H/X-pipe, or as a full catback, which replaces everything (including factory H or X-pipe) up to your factory cats. It is recommended that you only buy the Axleback if you have or plan on getting headers later, as most header systems require the use of their own X-pipe.

IF you have questions, call us @ 443-730-9428!

Which exhaust to choose?

The video at the link below best explains the differences-

  • Touring is Borla's quietest exhaust. It sounds like stock just driving around, but when you get on it, you know a performance exhaust is on the car.
  • S-Type II is the middle child of Borla's exhaust line. It is a little louder at stock and a good bit louder under load. However, it is still controlled enough for most people in daily driving.
  • Atak is the newest and wildest exhaust on the block. It is unmistakably the loudest and most aggresive tone Borla has offered. However, Borla has been able to use their patented ATAK muffller technology to make this system have street manners and be acceptable on a daily driver for someone who does not mind an agressive exhaust!

BWM C6GS 11-11-2011 05:27 PM

My 2010 GS 6-spd manual appears to already have what looks like a factory installed X-pipe. Mind you, I had to poke a mirror in to the underside area to observe this. So, is this the case with at least the GS? Is this pipe in fact a true X-pipe? If so, how does the Borla X-pipe provided with the S-Type II cat-back # 140440 kit differ from the factory installed X-pipe? If little or no difference, then S-Type II axle-back #11811 looks like the kit for my GS ??

I would just get the axleback..no one really every buys the system with x-pipe.

I guess I'm one of the select few that bought the x-pipe with the axle back (stingers):willy:

Is it true these new Borla exhausts have no drone/resonance?

And how big are the tips, 3 inches or 4?

I just had mine (ATAK axle back) installed by ECS yesterday, got for Christmas from MarylandSpeed. WOW.

So far no drone, the closest hint was at 73 MPH in 6th...but thats kinda slow for 6th and at 74 MPH the hint was gone. Sounds amazing under acceleration. And you can have a perfect conversation or listen to the radio with no issues.

The 4" tips look great.

Thanks for the report.

Even though I have had my "Stingers/Agressive" for 5 years now, I'd probably go for the ATAK for the even more powerful sound. At some point I plan on supercharging though and that combination may not work.

I'm buying these as soon as I get more cash =o)

How much rwhp for the LS3, catback exhaust?

TY

MarylandSpeed 07-10-2012 10:55 AM

Good morning TY,

How much RWP you may pick up from an exhaust can vary depending on a few factors. Other mods you have will affect it, as well as tuning and other things. Also it will be much lighter than the factory exhaust.

When you're ready just give us a call, and we'll be happy to help you! Thanks!

A catback alone isn't going to bring a huge increase in power. The dyno may show a few rwhp increase, but from the driver's seat it wouldn't feel considerable. The sound is the biggest difference and customers seem to like the aesthetics of the tips.

The real power a catback brings would come with the addition of headers or cold air intake, as the additional air flow wouldnt be restrcited by the factory exhaust.

i have the stingers on my 08 ls3 and love them. they look better then the new atak system. it looks like borla copied the same muffler design from corsa.

i hate looking at the back of a corvette and seeing the huge mufflers.

what is the difference if any between the atak and the stingers?

MarylandSpeed 07-29-2012 10:52 AM

The Atak is louder. Honestly..we used to have people complain about the rats nest muffler look of the old systems.

Corvette tax in full effect. The same kit for the mustang 5.0 is almost half the price.

In all fairness, the Mustang is a higher volume car, and they have a much simpler tip than the Corvette quad tip set up. This system is priced no different than it's Corsa or B&B competition. Lastly, saying almost half the price is misleading. Twice the Mustang system would be $1630. The Corvette system is $1325.

For anyone with a 2012 that is curious how loud the ATAK may be, it is actually very quiet with the factory x-pipe. The two additional cats added for '12 really quiet things down. It's almost too quiet. Absolutely no drone, though. If the other systems are less agressive they may definitely be too quiet. For the '12s and '13s, you may have to consider an aftermarket "off road" x-pipe with no cats if you want it loud.

Just got thru installing my Borla S type II and yes I'm happy,:D:D:D The install took about three hours and yes for those without a lift or rack system, you need to get the Back end up very high, the floor jack with jack stands worked, just take your time and work safely. The fitment of the Borla system was outstanding, it took longer to get the stock cans and pipes out than installing the new. To John and the crew at Marylandspeed, a big Thank you, for the extra packing and surprises, you've gone above and beyond the sale. Borla system met my expectations, with no noticeable drone at low rpms, had the window down stereo and ac off just listened to the exhaust note for about 40 miles, Thanks David, another satisfied customer,
