So F'n close.....new PB for me last night in AZ

Good air is starting to return to Arizona, so our racing season has officially arrived

Decided to go run Speedworld just outside of the Phoenix metro area last night for their Wednesday Night special....$10 from 6-10 pm

Running for the first time on 315/35/17 Hoosiers, I'm now having to get accustomed to shifting into 4th gear at the 1000+' mark but I can now run it out the backdoor for the MPH. Previously, the 27+" tall dr's took me thru the traps at the top of 3rd at the rev limiter near 7100 RPM and 123-125 trap speeds.

A non-prep track night, the grip was suprisingly good.

My DA was right around 1600' ASL.....not bad for us here in AZ but nothing like the sea level tracks and the crazy -DA's the east coast see's.

Air temps in the low 60's/high 50's, 22% humidity, and a barometer of 30.08 (as reported from DragTimes), gave me a Density Altitude of 1595 feet, and a Relative Density of 95.41 %.

What's 3/1000th's of a second at 128 MPH....what, like 6" or less ????
So F'n close...but still a new PB for ET and trap speed

11.0021@128.61 MPH.......stock with the exception of drag radials, KBII, and full ZR1 exhaust

Cant wait to get some really good air in the coming weeks...I just might finally make it

No ****...you're right !!!
I just want to have that 10.9999 slip while I'm (near) stock at our DA here in AZ.
The Katech LS9 clutch, Torquer camshaft, and B&B headers have been sitting in my kitchen for almost 6 months....staring at me...taunting me :willy:

With 60K miles on my original OEM clutch, there won't be too many more opportunities for me to hit my goal. If my pudgy arse was 175 lbs instead of 225+, that would've been good for 3/1000th's.

Congrats on the excellent 60' and ET. I told myself I would be patient with my car and my build ideas...less than a year later, I was running around with a built motor, heads, cam, E85, etc...and now I want to go Twin Turbo. Good job having the patience to stare at those parts for 6 months. lol

you do know that you supposed to have dropped a valve by now, sheesh. Nice runs. Maybe I'll make it out to the drag strip to embarrass myself one of these days.

Yep....getting grief from my local buddies over it, but d@mn...3/1000th's is sooooo close.
I did see your milled WCCH heads for sale....been thinking high compression E85 like you were for quite some time :D

Yeah, I know......you see me living in fear, don't you ?????

And, I'm still running on my 60K mile original OEM clutch. :D
I want to join the high compression E85 club like you, but I'm soooo d@mn close with the (near) stocker, I want to get that elusive 10.9999 slip at our altitude on the stock tune and hardware.

By full zr1 exhaust do you mean xpipe and mufflers or do you mean their manifolds, xpipe, and mufflers?

X-pipe and mufflers.....the exhaust manifolds and cats are my original parts, but they are the same as the LS9 motor as well

The 2011 and newer Z06's now come with this same exhaust setup

160KTS 11-03-2011 12:16 PM

Maybe you should drive my car Victor LOL!

LS9Drew 11-03-2011 12:21 PM

Oh Ok ya I thought we had the same manifolds but the Full zr1 exhaust threw me off lol

I'm always leary about driving other people's cars....each car has it's own personality.
But have no doubt.....your car has 10's written all over it if you can get it launched and down the track.

Yep....my stuff came from a 2010 ZR1, but now we can just say 2011+ Z06 exhaust to clear up any confusion :D

OH MAN DO I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!

I got a 11.07 last week in the heat (+954 DA) and went back for my 10.xx twice and was denied..I kept spinning off the line.

It sure isn't easy to put it all together in one run with a manual.

Good news for you is, you can rest assured you're one trip to Sacramento from a 10 second slip!

I'll be watching and rooting for you. Come December I predict you'll get your slip at your hometown track.

Yep....you know my pain for sure !!!
I'm still on my original OEM clutch at 60K miles...I don't know how many more chances she's going to give me before the clutch says no more.

Time to hit the weight loss program and skinny up like HOXXOH
If I was 175 lbs instead of 225+, that would've been worth 3/1000th's I would think

Our racing season is upon us, and I know I'll get some better DA here in the next 60-90 days.....then it's GAME ON !!!!!:woohoo:

NachosZO6 11-03-2011 12:51 PM

I need to make it out there one of these days. Nice time! Today is awesome AGAIN. A cold front is supposed to get here soon, may be another shot so you don't have to wait too long.

The ZR1 mufflers are are dual mode, correct? How's the sound compare to the original mufflers? I've got the muffler mod and switch, curious on the sound difference mainly with the ZR1s
