Totaled???

I felt I needed to take my 35,000 mile '01 vert out after sitting in the garage for three weeks. It wasn't long after that this proved to be the wrong day for a drive. Some one pulled out in front of us and we just couldn't stop in time. What's the verdict, is she toast?

Sorry to see that. With the airbags deployed it may be. Looks like most of the damage is higher than the lower bumper. If the frame didn't get tweeked maybe not though.

TNX ZORA 11-12-2011 11:32 PM

Looks repairable to me. Doesn't look like frame or suspension damage from the pix. I'm no expert though. Wish you the best with it.

jrose7004 11-12-2011 11:34 PM

I doubt it's totaled.

Olson98 11-12-2011 11:41 PM

Sorry guy,Hope you all ok! I think it going to be close, but if i was to gues I think it's total.
The only things that may save it is the mileage. Good luck.

TorchRedRocket 11-12-2011 11:43 PM

With both of the airbags being deployed, I bet it will be totaled.

madmatt9471 11-12-2011 11:45 PM

Ohh bummer - let the insurance decide and go from there - it can be fixed "IF" there is frame damge then total it. :yesnod:

Thanks,Matt

Thanks Brother. My wifes foot is bruised and my wrists are bruised and swollen. All in all, we're doing just fine. The car was in pristine condition, but I'm not sure I feel good about getting it back repaired.

:iagree: What parts under the hood is bad...Good luck

I would try and have it totaled with the insurance co if I were you.
Make sure the front of the the frame is straight if you are not totaling the car. It bends easy with an average impact.
My son tapped the interstate barrier in a heavy downpour and his 01 coupe was totaled.

dquagliaroli 11-13-2011 05:51 AM

Sorry!

Get it to a good body shop and have them check it over then decide which way you want to go. Good luck.

oakvillec5 11-13-2011 06:23 AM

ouch!

Xx_Black-out 11-13-2011 06:23 AM

2001...I say that's totalled.

I would hope they total it out, just based on if you ever try to sell it...

Ole Blaster 11-13-2011 08:02 AM

Sorry to hear the bad news my friend :salute: but glad you two are ok...

Vetteman Jack 11-13-2011 08:34 AM

Sorry to see that happen to such a nice car. Best of luck with the insurance company - hope it all works out for you.

fendermender 11-13-2011 09:49 AM

That's a total. The frame has to be bent. There are reccomended procedures to repair the frames (right from GM) but no insurance company seems to want to do that. Probably because so few shops are equiped or trained to do them. And the cost of parts and labor put it over the top. Then there is the mindset of most Corvette owners that once a car is wrecked, it's junk.

But I will almost gaurantee that the car will be rebuilt and driven again. Especially being a Vert with those miles. It will sell at salvage auction and someone will put it back together with used parts.

Glad you both were not seriously injured and hope they settle to your satisfaction.

Thank you sir. My stomach is already churning just thinking about a low ball offer. We'll just have to wait and see I suppose.
