NPP Exhaust on a 2012 GS...Worth the Cost?
 

I am considering the NPP option on a new GS. Cost is $1,195. Would like to know your opinion on whether this option is worth the cost. Also, how does the dual-mode work? Is it controlled by the driver or does it function automatically?

In my 09 the dual mode works with vacuum solenoids opening ports on the muffler to make the exhaust louder. This happens automatically at around 3500 RPMs. It can be annoying sometimes and other times it sounds awesome. I bought my car used and the original owner had added the Mild to Wild option which allows the ports to be open all the time. The jury is still out whether I would miss it or not. My last one, an 07, did not have this and I was always happy with the sound.

I love it. It don;t know if its worth the power gains, but if you like a little noise every now and then and the ability to quiet down its definately worth it.

Worth every penny. Add a $100 M2W switch (a 5 minute install) and you can control it.:thumbs:

I have the dual mode exhaust on my Z06 along with the M2W remote controller. I like being able to run the flaps open around town, yet close them when driving on the highway to stop the drone.

Absolutely worth it.

As previous posters...get the NPP and the $100 M2W kit. The exhaust sound is part of the essence of the experience, imho.

I have it on my 09 Coupe. The main reason I bought it was that whenever I trade I always seem to go to an Aftermarket Exhaust system and this was much cheaper than the Corsas I had previously used. This also allowed me to have one less exhaust system filling up the needed garage area. The NPP gave an extra 6HP and gave the car a liitle sound when past 3500 RPM. I did go with the M2W and glad I did. This allows me to let it work as normal or the deeper sound all the time. And at the push of a Remote Control Button. I willl get the NPP on the next corvette also if that helps you... Good Luck...

NPP is one of those must have factory installed options along with the M2W system.

I will the the devil's advocate and say NO. For at or near that cost, I prefer to install an aftermarket cat-back that will sound a lot better, tips look way better, and is lighter to boot. Sure you do not have the dual mode option, but a Corvette is meant to be heard, and not to sound like a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry:)

Yes 100%! and if you buy a slightly used vette consider the option FREE!

Six more horsepower. How can you not love that? But it is the sound that makes it worth while for me. I too have the M2W switch. The best of both worlds. So........worth it for me. Yessiree!

quite a few CF vendors sell them...thinking Southern Car Parts, Top Flight Reproductions, etc.
Instructions are easy and come with the package... in fact, TFR has them on their website...

took me 10 mins to install, and that was going slow & backwards !

Have you tended to put aftermarket exhaust on your previous cars to get a little more tone? If yes then read on. If no, then you probably don't need the dual mode exhaust.

When you did put that aftermarket exhaust on your other cars, did you have a hard time finding the right balance between throaty sound and too much drone on the highway or when you want to talk? Perhaps you went through a few different exhausts to find something you like?

If you answered yes to everything above, then the NPP is worth every penny.

Worth every penny,and no need for an expensive after market system to get the "sound" you want.:thumbs:
