Has anyone done a T56 to T6060 swap?

If so, what else was involved or was it a direct bolt in replacement?

I have done number of TR6060 upgrades for 06-07 owners. If you use the 08 TR6060, it's a direct swap but 09 up the cooler line fitting on the main case is on a different location. PM me if you need help doing this swap.

I'm actually in a bit of an interesting situation. My transmission is being replaced under warranty on my '07, but it's totally out of stock at GM until January or February. What I'm wondering is, can I simply tell them to order the TR6060, and I'll pay the difference? My bet is as long as I covered the cost difference, they'd do it without hesitation.

Have them order you a TR6060 from a 2008 and it will be a bolt in.

I noticed the oil cooler line difference on my 09Z when I did the oil change. On the pictures of the 08Z, the oil "drain" fitting goes into the case vertically whereas on the 09 the line goes in horizontally. On the 09, when you drain the oil, you cannot pull the oil line and fitting all the way out as it contacts the rear subframe. It may be in a little safer position than the earlier T6060's, but it looks like it would be a lot more work if you had to change out the oil line.

If you are retrofitting the T6060 to a T56 equipped Z06, the different oil cooler connection is one hassle you'd like to avoid, thus the recommendation for a 08 spec T6060 (of course if they don't have T56's available, they probably don't have 08 T6060's either.

Call RPM Transmissions, they will set you up,also have the option to change ratios, mainly 5th gear. Also their level 6 is super tough, and super smooth. It was a direct bolt in,couldn't be happier!

You will be getting a better transmission as well. All you need is the one tube that goes between the transmission and the rear diff oil cooler. I installed a ZR1 TR6060 into my Z and it was a direct bolt in.
