Best ceramic brake pad?

What is the best ceramic brake pad to keep dust at a minimum?

laconiajack 12-16-2011 08:03 PM

I'm very happy with the GM ceramic brake pads. I had them installed at a GM Chevrolet dealership. Brake dust reduced 90%+, and it doesn't cling to the wheels if you use ArmorAll Wheel Protectant spray; they also eliminated all brake squeal. I don't track my car, but braking performance is excellent under all conditions most drivers will ever experience

ah....

Ok... I got all 4 at NAPA....They stop great, make no noise, and very little dust... and they were not $$$ They were really nice and the only ones that said they would not squeak....They have my vote.

Installed Bendix ceramics from a local parts supplier to eliminate light braking squeal and dust.

Got mine from Gene @ GM Partshouse...great deal...great service.

Mine are Wearever Premium Ceramic Pads. Virtually no dust. I don't know if they are the best, but I'm very happy with mine. You can order them from Advanceautoparts.com.

The name on the box I still have is Parts Master. My Corvette Club bought several sets theu a salesman in the club. I have no idea where from. They have given me no problem whatsoever in 3 years use. I wish Chevrolet would make Ceramic Pads an option when we order the cars. It would be one less thing to do whenever I trade cars.....

Very happy with my Hawks and they are working great after 30k now:rock:

If you want the best ceramic pads, get Carbotech.
If you are just looking to reduce dust then get Hawks, GM etc.

c6miller 12-16-2011 11:48 PM

took the Hawk pads off my 08 3LT vert. they were noisy and overall nothing to rave about. Put on GM ceramic and GM cross-drilled roters and I am very happy. Little dust, stop great and quiet.

The Carbotech 1521 pad is quiet and is a low dust ceramic based pad that is rotor friendly and performs like OEM and last longer. The 1521 is also 100% non-corrosive dust will not harm your wheels or paint. This pad also contains NRS technology. Carbotech uses NRS technology on all C4, C5, C6 & C7 front and rear brake pads.

Here is a link to explain further what NRS technology is exactly: http://www.nrsbrakes.com

The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

500.00 for pads? what is your profit margin with this sale?

good god, it's not like there is any more technology put into a corvette pad over say a chev P-30 chassis. come on!

I agree. Recently replaced the GM ceramics that had begun squealing horribly with my Z51 rotors. Also replaced the rotors with Baers. Everything's now ultra-quiet, dust-free, and very beautiful. Not cheap, though.

Just put new AKIBONO ceramic pads all the way around yesterday. Seems to be a lot less dust than the factory GM pads. Feels like a better bite too.

:willy: Honestly, if you are that uninformed about break pad compounds and the performance differences, then stick with a $100 set.

I agree!!!!!!!

C6 Z06 One Piece pad for the front and rear stock calipers (PBR Calipers). We were the first to release the padlets almost four years ago, and then we were the first to release the One Piece over 3 years ago. That design that we worked with GM on wasn't perfect. That's the same design you see other companies using now.

We set out to redesign the new One Piece all on our own. We wanted to make sure it was perfect and even more user friendly. This design will drop right into the caliper and you don't have to take out the caliper pins or spring clips. The spring clips are critical in keeping the brake pad square to the rotor surface and ensuring that the pads slide smoothly along the pins. The spring clips also assist in reducing the noise inside the caliper.

This one piece will make changing pads a lot faster and easier. The Carbotech One Piece will give longer pad life and a little more bite as well. We are molding the One Piece pad just like we do with all the C6, C5, and C4 brake pads.

We are also using industry leading NRS technology. If you're not familiar with NRS technology it gives molded pads up to 8 times stronger sheer strength vs. conventional molded brake pads and riveted pads. NRS technology also helps in reducing noise and vibration of the brake pad inside the caliper as well as aiding in longer wearing pads. We use NRS technology on all C6 & C5 front and rear brake pads.
