LG GT2 Coil over shocks

Just got new Baer cross drilled rotors for my 2011 C6....did not up size to Z06.. stayed with the stock wheels. Good enough for my street driving. Any advise on whether to let the stock cross springs on or remove them when I install the Coil over shocks...????

Do you mean the horizontal leaf spring? If so, yes it is removed when installing coil overs.

Congrats on the GT-2s they are an outstanding upgrade. Ride comfort and handling is phenomenal.

Thanks, I never know if I'm doing the right thing. Whats the best setting for these shocks if I'm just road driving, not racing.

I have my stiffness set at 9 all the way around. Rides like my wife's Mercedes. :-)

At setting 9,......does that still give better handling than stock socks and horizonal springs?

C7&7 01-01-2012 09:16 PM

Yes sir! Totally different car.

grumpstar 01-01-2012 09:19 PM

So you recommend 9......or should I start at 5 and see how it is? Is it hard to adjust from one position to the next?

C7&7 01-01-2012 09:24 PM

You should start at atleast 7, anything less will be too soft. You just have to take the wheels off to adjust.

Tim,
Can you offer any feedback regarding wheel hop before/after the coil overs?
Thanks,
John

Hey John.

I really have not had bad wheel hop issues with my car, just traction issues :-).

I basically had a 100% stock car before coilovers and it really didn't wheel hop. Then I did heads/cam/intake coilovers etc and the car still really has zero wheel hop. I would think though a softer setting in the rear would help with wheel hop and traction. Coilovers were the best mod I have done to my car. Hands down.

Thanks for your feedback Tim!

With our coil overs, and most the leaf springs are removed. There is one or two kits out there that retain the spring as a 'helper' spring for the car which seems out of place to me.

A good base setting would be 6-7 in the rear and 8-10 on the front, at least that is what most of my customers have told me they like the best on them for most normal driving.

Anthony where do you guys set your coilovers when they are packaged up and shipped to a customer? Just curious.
