I am with you clown... I did mine this last summer.

I did my 1st one about 4 or 5 years ago before RPM was selling the conversion harness. I took a 04 Z06 and a 01 auto Vette and converted the Z06 to auto and the auto vette to 6 spd. Since then I have done several more. Not bad once you do the 1st one. I used the factory ECM to control the trans on the ones I have done.

Good luck
Kris

Thanks guys

chris did u use the 6sp brake pedal. somebody told me i needed to get an auto brake pedal if i wanted cruise to work is that right? Or can i just take off the clutch part?

Chris Stewart 01-07-2012 02:00 PM

Yes I still run the 6spd brake pedal, it saves the hassle if I switch back. I pulled the clutch pedal assembly and covered the hole in the firewall. The original cruise control cancel switch is still in place on the brake pedal. I'm also using the factory computer to control the trans. Might save you some $$$ to return it. I was told I would need a stand alone controller for a 4L80.

Alright cool i havent bought a auto brake pedal so that will work. Im using the seprate computer for the trans via Arun and RPM. im sure they will chime in and give the reasons why they told me to use it.

Don't forget to zip tie the switch or permanently connect your clutch switch wires before you bother trying to start your car.

Take lots of pictures so dummies like me can figure it out if and when I have a total breakdown and decide to go auto.

You may want to watch this thread closely Brett, you just may learn a thing or two so it will be easier when you do yours! :hide:

Been awhile since I had to mess with the stock trans & rear.

As I recall there's a spacer/plate between the rear & auto trans, unlike the manual trans??

The clutch switch wires are run to the neutral safety switch if you want it to work properly

The auto trans uses a seal plate that slides in the diff. This is only used on the auto

I think the plate is part 12369457 and needs an o-ring. Found a pic here, halfway down the page:
