5 Corvette Daytona Prototype at the 24
 

Went out to the Daytona track today and check out the Corvette Prototypes. They are 5 racing, so it's going to be a fun 24 hours for the Corvette fans. Managed to get a quick picture of all 5.

interesting variation in the Gainsco front splitter..

3 on Coyote chassis's, 1 on a Dallara chassis, and 1 on a Riley chassis...so not all "Corvettes" are created equal.

All the Coyote chassis's (5, 9, 90) are right hand drive, are they not?

They look more like Saleen S7s than 'vettes to me... I see more similarities between the ALMS/Le Mans cars and the roadgoing versions, which is important for marketing. Plus they have the cool Jake skull logo.

But more variety is always good, great for GrandAm!

DPs are a Prototype class - there is no pretense of looking like a street car. It is the same in ALMS, the P1 and P2 cars don't look like any street car ever built. The ALMS GT cars look like the street versions and Grand AM GT cars are also that way.

Hmm, did they get a rules brake? Last I saw they were 10mph short around the banking.

Anybody know if Porsche is going to be running the GT3 RS Hybrid there this year?

7/10ths of a second from the fastest to 8th place times in the test session is a pretty tight grouping. I like it.

This is going to be fun to watch! Looking forward to how the Corvette DPs do for 24h.

F'ing finally! Why did those jerks in Grand Am subject us to arguably the ugliest racing cars on earth for the past 10 years???
The DP cars are ~3sec off the GTP lap record, but I couldn't care less about that or their relatively tame tech given the tight lap times.

I agree, still not the best looking race cars on the planet, but a step in the right direction. I would love to see more of the DP's make an attempt to look like road going cars. The racing is great, lets make the cars look a little better!
