code 22 nothing wrong with the TPS sensor
Hello Corvette friends.
I have a problem with my Corvette 1984th. I get error code 22, this as you know it's low tps signal to the ECM. I have looked through the Corvette shopmanual. But everything seems normal in all measured values . I have good ground for all components and 5:04 volts reference voltage to TPI sensor. From the transducer in the idle position, I have approximately 0.1 V. So everything seems normal. Despite this, I get again and again the error code 22 after having erased the error codes. The error code will as soon as the engine has been started appear. ”Check engine” light indicates the error code as soon as I read the code in the diagnostic mode. Engine smokes a lot, shakes and dies after a while at idle. Exhaust fumes smell gasoline. I also lack strength. Can anyone help me with this problem. I work as a boat electrician so I have god knowlege of 12v systems and troubleshoot. Thank you / / Lars, Sweden |
tp sensor needs to read at least .5 volts at idle. .1 volts is too low, hence the code 22.

.525 to be real exact

also have seen cars pass the closed/open test only to make a car weird out driving. TPS sensors should do a gradual sweep of voltage closed to open. when some get old and oxidized and or are china cheapies the voltage is not gradual and you can get some weird driveability issues.
i think the op's question was already answered above but i thought i would add a quick bit of tps troubleshooting advice |
At base idle, i.e. 450rpm, the stock setting is .540 Vdc for my '88 Vette.
I prefer about .65 Vdc for better throttle response; this gives about .75 Vdc at normal idle of about 700-800rpm. |
his 84 crossfire is a bit different

How do you adjust the TP voltage if at all possible? If not, just replace the tp servo?

setting may move when tightened http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1545725339-post4.html http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...es-pulled.html |
