LS swap
Here's just another one for the board. Project has been sitting for a while and its time to get started getting the old out. Still have parts to buy but lots of labor that I can be doing. Got it on jack stands to start junking it out. Took most of the accessories off the motor. Trying to decide to cam or not to cam. Still sending it to be freshed up with good bolts and such.

Look into the "Mamo" cam. |
Cam it more power is always better
|
mamo cam works real well.
You can get a low mile 03-04 Z06 cam off ebay for about 100-150 that will pick it up some too. Doesnt take much cam at all to really wake those up! |

Are you still planning on the turbocharger? |
Is that an LY6 ? Are you keeping the VVT or going old school? There's a growing collection over on the General Discussion forum:

Just letting every one kno, its not going to look like GM installed it. The thread where I built most of it on the table is just mock up. Stock looking ls just doesn't fit this car. Plain and simple.
|
I know it's a DD are you keeping the A/C? I'm curious about some of the details especially accessory drive. :lurk:

Yes keeping the AC. I'm to old not to have it. The acc are a combination of our Billet setup and a few pieces I had to make along the way. Only thing I don't plan to have is cruise. |

I almost named it Spark plugs? Did get some done Sat, not as much as I would have liked. Never enough time one the day. Few more bolts and it clean up time. http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...IMAG0497-1.jpg |

Getting there. Are you going to use a stand-alone EFI or are you adapting the stock LS harness?
|
Wow can't wait to see this, you have to be the king of C4 modding, I have never seen another car like yours.

this is going to be a beast.

Just to let everyone know, this swap will not be the fastest swap done. One reason is I have a lil helper that wants to be involved. So I got a 9 yr old taking out a engine & trans. I loosen some nuts and bolts before he takes parts out.

|
i like that you have your son helping you, i remember my first car experience. i helped my dad change a water pump on his jeep. i was hooked after that. now i teach him everything!
|
that gives new meaning to "working for peanuts"
|
It's down to drive shaft, c beam, taking the trans out and ps lines. He has made a pile of junk in a couple days. Brakes and suspension is fairly easy to him, he has put several sets on in the past.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...IMAG0514-1.jpg http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...IMAG0517-1.jpg |
Went and cleaned up a mess that was made. Started getting out the radiator and such parts. Waiting on a new condensor so I can get the shroud area done.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...IMAG0550-1.jpg I'm thinking these should match the shroud. http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...IMAG0523-1.jpg |
Your helper does good work! Want to hire him out? I have lots of peanuts....

I have done lots of things in my life that I'm proud of, lot more that I'm not. But having my son take every nut and bolt out, and figure out how to take a engine trans out really made me proud......without drawing blood  Last of the dirty pics. Waiting on some parts to get back from plating and I'll have some good pics.

OP do you do this for a living?
|
ah never mind i read your profile... that will explain why you are so good at this
|
First time to have every thing fitting in the front. I still have a few brackets to make for the inter cooler. Mocking up the brake booster in a few day. If all fits I just need a new trans lil paint and then its time to rock&roll.

advanteges of the c6 booster/MC? I had it made, its in one of the threads somewhere. The booster give me more room for the hot pipes. |
Can you post a little more detail on the booster install? The C6 one is metal correct? I may be interested in this mod if it isnt too much more work for myself.

There are 2 dimples at the top after you remove the booster. Drill those out an the top is mounted. Measure down and 2 more holes to drill. You will need a backing plate for the lowers. That's as far as I got. The support will more than likely need to be notched. I'll have more when I get future. Gonna try a new rack out while I'm in there. http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...3836086432.jpg |

Hi,
Been following this thread with interest. Got your note on the "other side" & figured I'd return the favor. It's great you've been able to get your son involved. I showed my youngest how to change a tire this morning, but that's not quite the same thing, eh? Best regards, Wayne |

I'm getting there slowly..hope you didn't think I was going to leave those plug wires red.

Blue looks nice!
What is wrong with red? (I do have an LT4. So, I guess I kinda like red!) Just wondering. |
Certain look I'm going for....the covers are fixing to go thru a change to match the outside of the car along with the engine bay. Done most of the lines to the turbo and such. Still like the oil inlet on top. Get it fitting and order the parts I want. Sometimes I can get to picky. The lines and fittings I wanted to use was way out of my budget at a cost of 1K for 6 lines

That's LS porn :smiliedrool:

Well I had a bright idea ..........so I'm just going to stick to working on cars. Haven't had time to fix the links. Wait till I'm done with the covers ...having some laser work done.

You really should market those hoods. If you can produce them at a decent cost I'd think you'd sell a ton.
|
Don't know if the hood could be done at a low enough cost but that is the best looking hood I've ever seen on a C4. Wish I had the know how to do that.
