Break flush speed bleeders
Is this a complete break fluid flush job and all that is needed. 1-install speed bleeders
2-pump all fluid out making sure not to run the master cylinder dry. 3-add fluid as you go. |
I did this on my 2000 BMW M roadster, 2002 Z06 and 1992 Coupe.
1. Install speed bleeders in each caliper. 2. Suck out old brake fluid from master cylinder with turkey baster. 3. Fill master with new brake fluid. 4. Open speed bleeder at pass. rear. Put a clear tube over the bleeder with the end going into a container. 5. Pump the brake pedal until clean fluid enters the clear line on the caliper. 6. Close the bleeder. Then do the drivers rear, the pass. front and the drivers front. 7. DO NOT LET THE MASTER CYLINDER RUN OUT OF FLUID OR YOU WILL NEED TO START OVER TO GET THE AIR OUT. You should be able to pump the pedal at least 10 times before checking the master cylinder fluid level. The whole process took about 15 minutes once the speed bleeders were installed. |

I bought some clear hose to fit over the bleeder ends so fluid didn't go everywhere

Speed bleeders make the job very easy. Just did mine last month. Sure would be nice if most cars came this way.

When using speed bleeders. How do you know when the old fluid is completely out.

The old fluid is dark and the new is clear.

I purchased a set of the speed bleeders in the fall and have yet to install them. plan to install this spring and with these instructions job should be easy. :thumbs:

I've been using speed bleeders for a few years now, and I love them. Bleeding brakes at the tack takes less than 20 minutes by myself. First I suck out all of the old fluid with a turkey baster, then refill. I connect the hose to the bleeder and the clear bag that comes with the bleeders, open up the cap, pump the pedal 5 times, close the bleeder, top off the fluid, and move on to the next wheel. I use a dot 4 fluid, although a lot of track guys use motul 600.
