FI owners----------------PLEASE don't let bubba work on your FI unit!
Now I have never professed to be the ultimate FI rebuilding guru, but I've been rebuilding FI units for 35+yrs. I do NOT rebuild as many or as often as people such as Jerry Bramlett, John DeGregory and others, but I'm pretty good at it. Once in a while a real POS FI unit comes through.
The one is one example (earlier I had been looking for some nozzle blocks). Some bubba and his retarded sister previously had their hands on a unit I recently received from a customer. The nozzle blocks had either been glued or epoxied to the plenum legs (I understand the intent was to prevents leaks!). The remains of the blocks had to be removed with a putty knife and the brass tubes had to be dirven out! This is just one example of what I've come across so far. So don't let your local neighborhood mechanic work on your FI unit.:ack: http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...n/100_4387.jpg Tom Parsons |

So then as I'm starting to disassemble the fuel meter and remove the screws for the high pressure pump, I discovered one corner of the pump is broken off. :(
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...n/100_4391.jpg And when I pulled the pump out of the fuel meter, all this mass of crud comes out. Presumedly the remains of dried up gas after many years. :ack: http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...n/100_4390.jpg Tom Parsons |

I'm thinking a little duct tape and your ready to roll........:D

Ahhh the creativity. :woohoo: The 54 I'm working on had the king pins secured in place with some poor welding instead of the snap rings. I took me awhile to get the welds out and the grooves re-made for the snap rings... :leaving:

Wow, that's $500.00 worth of pieces there, not to mention the labor to tear it apart and clean it up! Agreed, never let Bubba near an FI unit. |
Those look like some of the items that I've seen on Ebay. List 'em!:D
