polarized sunglasses are the absolute worst for driving, they blackout lcd screens and washout the hud display. I use vedalo hd nonpolarized sunglasses

Still use my old aviator style progressive non-polarized drivers. The best but hard to find.
I had Serengetti Driver's (aviator style) years ago...lost them in the Pacific Ocean. Replaced with Maui Jim's (not sure which style--large lenses, not quite aviator look). Both polarized & lens-coated. Both are excellent for me... |
IMO drivewear is the best lens for driving. The lenses actually change color based on how sunny it is outside, and they actually change when you are inside the car.
The lenses are polarized, but I can see HUD and all the gauges no problem. They are expensive, not sure it woul be worth it for those who dont need an rx to drive. http://www.drivewearlens.com/ |
Polarized makes me nuts.
Everything in the car is messed up. Even the light coming through the winows looks like a rainbow. Tilt your head a bit and it changes again. Nav. radio, HUD, all messed up. Same problem flying with polarized lenses. Bank in the sun and the light changes. They only work while sitting by the pool, looking under the water at Bikini's. Aviator Ray Ban or maui jims. |
Serengeti Drivers for me.
Photo-chromatic feature is a must. Cheaper polarized glasses in the boat. |
Maui Jims...Typhoons, block all outside light. Great lenses, can do RX if you need it. Blocks uva and uvb..and blue light too which some companies don't. A good quality product with superior service. I keep a pair in the glovebox of the 67 and the new 12 as back up to the daily driver pair, you can never have enough sunglasses. I have worn various brand sunglasses over the years and really like the Maui's. Just my 2 cents.

Oakley Ducati Limited editions here.

BluBlocker Viper Gray polarized sunglasses #0792K that have side lens.
http://shop.blublocker.com/collectio...gray-polarized Outstanding for the early morning/ late evening blinding low sun angle. I like the orange lens that provides better optical colorization. |
I keep a pair of Maui Jim's in the Vette, and a pair of Maui's in my wife's SUV. I've had Oakleys, Ray Bans, and Bolle's, I prefer the Maui's.

Cheap walmart specials. So when I lose them or one of my kids sits on them, it's no big deal.
I put sunglasses in same category as pens. No Mont Blanc pen to lose, no high dollar sun glasses to lose/break. |
ray bans

I've noticed that some polarized sunglasses make the HUD virtually disappear, and other that just lighten it a little. My best overall glasses were an old pair of Revo's. Given the evolution of style and thin glass, they don't make them anymore. But I've got several pair of Maui Jim's, Vaurnet, Oakley's (they were the worst in blocking the HUD), but the best pair that I ever owned was Revo.

Walgreens polarized for driving the car and the boat. If I lose them (have lost plenty) only $20 to replace. Chicks dig them as well :D.

It seems to me, given the popularity of Corvettes with astronauts and pilots, that aviator shaped glasses look best. I use RayBan aviator reflective mirror glasses. Had them six years and love them.
