Got my NCRS Data Report

Got my data report today. Big let down! They have the original dealer as code 825 in zone 16, but no other info on the dealer. Anyone know how I can find out the dealer? You would think if they have the code and zone they could tell me the dealer! Maybe I'm missing something? Any ideas?

I just tried the search, got nothing. Do you have any more info, perhaps the state?

The report says South Carolina or North Carolina. I would guess SC because the second owner was from SC.

zone 16

it's North or South Carolina

Is this all this report gives ? Only the dealer ?

Rgds. Günther

It gives production date, dealer code and zone.

Here's mine.

Jim Bodner Chevrolet was actually Jim Booher Chevrolet. Gone now, but the location exists. It's an import motors place these days.

Hi Gunther,
Yes, it's not a whole lot of information.
But, for someone who has nothing in the way of delivery information it's a piece of the puzzle.
I think the hope is too that the dealer data base will grow because more of these zone and dealer numbers are in owner's hands now.
Regards,
Alan

Mike-

I drove by there the other day, I think they tore down the old building. :( It was in the St. Matthews area by the old white castle.

They're working with microfiche--trying to match up different pieces of documentation from GM--shipping records on the one hand, which would indicate dealer and zone--on the other hand, records from each year indicating which dealer is which. If any of that is no longer extant or readable, you get what you got. Same deal with a late 62 I have--no info!

Was Tafel Motors. Are they gone now?
Jeepers, I'm getting old. I can remember Booher Chevrolet.

If you're an ncrs member this guy will search for free
Algrenning@aol.com
need to have tank sticker

If you're not a member you can use
Jimclemens@aol.com
I believe he uses some old warranty books with dealers listed -
charges about $35

Good luck,
Chris

I am a member, but I don't have a tank sticker. :(

If you had a tank sticker- why would you need to ask anyone about the original dealer?

Original tank stickers that I have give only the zone number and dealer number. Someone still has to decode that into name and location of dealer.

Ah- the later ones have the dealer name and address on it.

I have the tank sticker from my '71.

Zone 16 / Dealer 708

Smith Chevrolet
Gastonia, NC

At least the zone 16 being NC gets you half way there. Maybe someone will know who dealer 825 was. Good luck with your search.

Rowdy Rat 02-15-2012 03:20 PM

Zone 16 was the Charlotte, NC zone.

Don't know who dealer 825 is, but the ORIGINAL dealership name will be somewhere between "Twi" and "Win" alphabetically.

Good luck with your search!

Regards,

Stan Falenski

Great replies guys thanks a lot!

Would be awesome to think that your car has stayed in the Charlotte area its whole life. 1st owner could live right down the street!
