Insurance Cost

I've seen CF queries from time to time re the cost to insure a Vette. The latest NYTimes auto section carried a column referencing the 2012 analysis done at Insure.com. These are nationwide averages. The 20 cheapest cars to insure run from $1100 to $1170. Most expensive 20 from $2430 to $3380.

Base Vettes $1677-1718 Verts less than coupes
GS $1750 - $1800
Z06 $2000
ZR1 $2322

My 2012 GS Coupe A6 caused my insurance to go up $50 every 6 months from the cost to insure my 2004 Honda CR-V EX.

Pretty amazing actually!!!

There must be some high prices somewhere. My Z costs less than $900 per year to insure.

I pay more to insure my 99 Suburban than my 11 GS, baffles me.

My base 08 C6 coupe costs me $1116 a year, which is $20 a year more than my wife's 2011 Equinox.

lol, i pay $180 less for my 05 vette than my 09 aveo. I have a package deal, $1400 annually.

Edit: i did ask my insurance guy why the difference, he said its based on the cars year since newer models have a higher parts cost and more diminished value.

I have an 09 Z06 and it comes to $884.80 with State Farm. Course, I'm 61 years old and fairly harmless :)

What I find amazing is the geographical price differences! I mean I understand the age thing but $500 yr to $1200 yr??
