GM LS3 Connect and Cruise Package
 

Has anyone saw this GM Performance LS3 Connect and Cruise package at Pace Performance.

I am looking to do a LS3 swap, so it looks tempting.

I think it would make for a very simple install, plus you will be using a New motor and transmission instead of a unit with a history.

If this is what you chose to go with I would budget in another 1500 to 2000 to complete the swap, there are a lot of small hidden cost in an LS swap, fuel system, exhaust, motor mounts, shorten the drive shaft, a starter for this setup and belts and hoses, plus more. And then there are the, while I'm here items that will pop up.



If and when you do a LS swap, I would love to see you project as it's being put together.

I don't mind spending a few extra bucks for simple.

Once I get the project scope and budget defined I will start posting on the build.

I'd edit that to say "I don't mind spending a few extra bucks for relatively simple." There isn't anything simple when it comes to a LS swap unless you're just writing checks to have someone else do the work. You still have to build the fuel system, buy the accessories for the motor, change your cooling system to use an electric fan, etc.

Not easy but IMO worth every bit of the aggravation.

Budget is really non existant. You go way over budget. Whatever yo uthink you can spend double it and double the time and you may be close.

I understand it's not simple, but also not impossible.

My point was that this setup by GMP might take some problems out of installation with the wiring harness and tune.

I am ready to start and wanting to make the best choice

I agree what you say here........Ive been putting money into this car for the last 7 years and now I want to spend more money.

So I am limiting myself for this build....or so I say...LOL

For $2k more you might as well get the 525hp version.

If you find a good used motor like I did, there are plenty of after market vendors to either tune or provide you a custom ECM harness. Since I didn't get the ECM/harness, Speartech provided a custom set up for a reasonable price. VettAid also builds custom harness/ECM. VettAid has been building me a complete custom wiring sytem, modding all the stock and LS harness to integrate and support the electronic upgrades I'm doing.

If plug and play is your primary concern, then teh GM

Don't worry about tune.

If plug and play is your primary concern, then the GMPP set up is for you. Does it also provide the electric fuel pump? You might want to research some and read other LS conversion threads on the forum. There are several vendors who provide all the conversion parts you need, motor mounts, etc. Josh at Custom Image Corvettes is another good source. He spent hours on the phone with me when I first started the project a couple years ago.

I have almost as much in "extras" and hidden costs as I have in a complete low mile LS2/t56 6speed pull out. :crazy:

I've been following some of "Gordonm's" progress on the LS swap he's doing, and knows a few things. GM performance, sells engine transplant computer kits for LS and auto tranny's. Are about $1K ea for the engine, plus another $1K for the tranny. Josh, at Custom Image Corvettes in SD can put you together on everything needed for the conversion. Assuming, you'd be going with a used engine/tranny, which most do.

That package sound like a good deal but figure $4-5000 extra for Fuel system, Front runner, Air intake, Radiator, Fans, Motor Mounts, Exhuast
+ + + + + I have built one of these cars and building another right now and I do all of my own labor. When you are done you have a 1'' tall stack of parts invoices.
