Drivers door pushbutton removal

My wife just two months ago took delivery of a 2008 C6 with only 5K miles. Today the drivers door release "pushbutton" did not pop back when pushed, and the door has to be opened by the emergency release pull. I am thinking that by pulling the switch and getting it released from the present position is the solution. Question is how do i get this pushbutton out of the door? Concerned that if I do it wrong I end up with a scratched cover and etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Just put a thin screwdriver carefully under the silver piece that surronds the black button and pop it out. So easy

:iagree: It's that easy.

You don't really even need a screwdriver. You can just grab the edge with your nails and it will pull off. That is how we take them off here at the shop.

Thanks for the assist. We found that the pushbutton had the bottom of the flange broken and as a result the button slipped and jammed. Not a common problem and new button is being shipped from michigan.
