Diagnostic Codes Help
Hey everyone, I just want to get some quick help if you guys can spare some time!
I've been having trouble with my Speedometer not registering at all--it just drops to 0 and stays there. Sometimes it'll try to read correctly, but it'll be bouncing around until it finally drops to 0. Also, my Fuel guage doesn't read correctly as well, reading 1/2 tank of gas all the time, until it drops to empty when I'm running lower on gas, I guess. I've almost bought a new fuel sensor and probably will as I have tried different fuels and have tried seafoam. Anyway, I got these diagnostic codes: PO463H Fuel Level Sensor 1 Circuit High voltage P1432H Fuel Level sensor 2 Low Voltage P1571H ASR Desired Torque C1225H RF Excessive Wheel Speed Variation C1226H LF Excessive Wheel Speed Variation C1241HC Magna Steer Circuit Malfunction C1255H EBTCM Internal Malfunction BO521H Tachometer Signal Circuit Malfunction U1160H Loss of Communications with LDCM BO361H Left Actuator Feedback Short to GND Bo363H Left Actuator Feedback Open Bo441HC Left Actuator Out of Range B2284H Battery #2 Fault B2264H Vertical Position Sensor Fault B2276H Door Lock Motor/Mirror Heater Fit U1064H Loss of Communications with BCM B2265H Horizontal Position Sensor Fault U1064H Loss of Communications with BCM B2172H Seat Front Up Switch Shorted to GND U1096H Loss of Communications with IPC u1016H Loss of Communications with PCM C2110HC Right Rear TPM Sensor Malfunction C2115HC Left Rear TPM Sensor Malfunction Also, can anyone tell me if any of these codes are related to one window rolling up slower than the other, or if they're related to the easy-entry seats not working sometimes? Thank ya! |
For troubleshooting simplicity, I would clear all the codes (unless this has been done recently) and see what comes back after more driving.

You have a bad ground somewhere or the serial bus cable in the door accordian may be having issues.

Well, check the speedometer connection at the top of the differential and see if its clean and properly connected.
|
What does the VSS look like? I'm trying to locate it near the differential and its connectors. Some people say its on the top, to the side?
Are there any diagrams or anything? Trying to make sure its clean and secure but I'm not quite sure where it is? The speedometer defaults to 0mph so its gotta be related to the signal circuit from the VSS, just can't find it! |

Just reset all my codes
Got TCS C1241HC HVAC BO361H Bo363H Speedometer still stuck at 0. I'm sure more codes will come back |
Looks like your magnasteer connector isn't connected and you've probably lost the driver's side hvac actuator. Reset the hvac codes as this will cause it to recalibrate. If the code comes back, you need a new actuator. The speedometer connection is usually right there on top of the differential. It should be easy to inspect and insure its clean and tight.

Also I'm not familiar with the magnasteer, what kind of problems does this cause? You've been very helpful! Thanks a bunch  |
The magnasteer connector changes the "feel" of the steering at different speeds. There's a connector coming from the steering rack that connects to the wiring bundle down there.
I don't know what the color of the wires are at the differential, sorry. Since the hvac codes keep coming back, this is probably the cause: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...0/DSC_0085.jpg |
Finally got a chance to raise the car up, and I've determined its not the VSS causing trouble with speedometer.
Gonna check the IPC, any ideas what I might be looking for if anyone has experience with this? |
The VSS signal goes to the PCM and the PCM then sends a pulse train to the I/P. You could very well have a correctly working VSS circuit from the transmission to the PCM but still have a bad circuit from the PCM to the I/P. Or you could have a bad I/P.
Areas to check would be Connector C142 Pins A & B for continuity with the VSS and with the PCM Connector Pins 71 and 7. Then check continuity from PCM Connector Pin 55 to the Instrument Cluster Pin A7. If you have continuity on all of those circuit lines then the problem lies with the cluster, the PCM or the VSS if you haven't checked it to see if it is working. The schematic shows the two separate circuits that provide speedometer data. The green circle shows the circuit from the VSS to the PCM and the red circle shows the circuit from the ECM to the cluster. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...eedowiring.jpg Bill |
