Have not seen it done yet, but remember a wrap is a wrap and it will not look like real carbon fiber.

yeah i know, i have some really gnarly paint damage on the hood that simply wont go away no matter what i try. Just weighing my options, i would love a carbon fiber hood, but cant justify $1000 to buy one, considering repaint as well, just dont know what a realistic price is for that.

Realistic price for a hood repaint is anywhere from $400-700 - depends on what the shop charges per hour and whether you want anything done to the underside of the hood while it is off.

I think the wrap could look pretty good, but have no idea what that might cost.

yeah see, there is my problem. If i am going to fork over $700+ for a paint job on the hood i may as well go another $300 and get the real carbon fiber one. it just sucks because i hate the way it looks right now, its almost like it was waxed and left on the hood to bake, really foggy/streaky dull looking on about 30% of the hood. Clay bar didnt work, or any other restoration product. any ideas for alternatives?

Some of the wrap materials are looking pretty real now. I think the good ones are made by 3M. I saw a sample that someone had wrapped a gas cap, then clear coated it. It looked great. Better than hydrocarbon because the wrap material was 3-dimensional which gave it depth when cleared.

Of course, if your goal is to save money, obviously doing a good clear coat will cost a few bucks.
