whats the perfect launch RPM for a stock Z?

no matter how I launch it, it always spins the wheels a lot. what do you guys launch at?

It will depend on what tires you have, how old and worn they are, what pressure you are running in the tires, how hot the paving is, and how aggressive you are applying the throttle and clutch at launch, not just the RPM at launch Consult the Ranger sticky note to find out more

I've found 3500 to be enough on normal pavement with healthy modulation of the throttle. No bog, light spin and go. Of course...my tires are not stock as they are 13 inches wide in the back.

As AzDave47 indicates, there are too many variables to say that a given RPM will work best in every, or most, situations.

Ive got brand new nitto invos, with the tire pressure at 35 on all 4 tires. sometimes it grips very good and sometimes it likes to spin them. i was just curious what RPM you guys were using...

35 PSI seems very high, cold. For the drag strip you probably want to be down around 25 cold. If you are talking play on the street, then drop them down to factory spec 30 PSI cold.

I run my street tires at ~ 30PSI cold, but drop the NT-05's to 27F 28R cold so they will be 35F 34R hot on road circuits.

The Invo's don't provide much grip at all....even with a skilled driver at the wheel. I could fully engage the clutch at 2000 RPM and still have the torque to haze even 345/30/19 Invo's when I hit 3K going WOT...what a pain in the arse
Nitto NT05's (standard issue, not the DR version) have much better traction and can hook the car on the street with 3K RPM with 30 psi hot pressure.

As other's have posted, there's no one size fit's all RPM.
If you are a skilled drag racer with seat time driving a stock LS7 clutch and a drag radial, many of us can leave the stripe at 4000-4500 RPM and higher.....this requires a slight slipping of the clutch.

If you are going to slip the clutch, you better be damn good in doing so. For many, if not most of us, that can lead to the clutch on the floor--or worse.

I mainly play on the street. what I tend to do is take off normally and then nail the gas once i hit 2500 rpm. a little wheel spin but hooks very good nonetheless.

On Bridgestone RFs is traction pretty much gone when the tread is at the wear bars?

You're VERY correct
I bet I have 200+ passes on my stock clutch before I really was comfortable on getting the car launched aggressively.....aggressive being sub 1.60 60' short times on drag radials.

Even with the required skill sets, I still get the clutch on the floor syndrome as I run thru the traps.....but, then again I have my original OEM clutch in the car at 63K+ miles

Back in November, I finally put my nearly stock C6 Z06 into the 10's.....it was the seat time which gave me the driving skills neccassary to get the car launched and speedy shifting to get there.
