275 tires on 8.5 rim?
I know most sites say you need a min of 9" rims to run 275 tires but I believe there are some national completive people running 275 on stock 8.5 rim. Am I correct? I ask because I hit a rock yesterday with the front tire, bent the rim and took a good size chunk out of the tire. I have spare 8.5" rims but the only street tires I have laying around are 275's. I have 255 Hankook RS3's on order but they will not be in till next month. I was hoping to be able to autox this weekend with the 275's in the front, I run in AS so I have to run stock size rim but any tires that fit on the rim is legal.
Another option is to run a square set up of 17x11x50 A-molds and A6's and run ASP will this set up fit? Dave PS I know I have to run with the nannys turned off. |
people here have fit 275s up front on stock c6 rims which are 8.5".

275/35-18 Michelin PS2 tires fit the the stock C6 front wheels and do not rub. When monted on the OEM 8 1/2 X 18" wheel, the tire exceeds the recommended rim width by 1/2" (1/4" per side). Then I spoke to a very knowledgable Discount Tire store manager and he said lets try it. They fit fine and are much improved over the OEM Goodyear runflats. By the way, the Michelin 275 is a lot lighter weight than the 245 OEM Goodyear. Reduced unsprung weight and functional sidewalls make the car ride much better.
Also, the 305/30-19 fits the rear just perfect. Infact, when the new 325 PS2 comes out I am going to try it. |
