Go to a tire size calculator site and play around with the tire and rims until you get what you want. That's what I did, my TOYO T1R's are 285/40/18 on the back and are stock 27 in high, ZR speed rated and don't stick out at all. I am old skool and like smaller tires in the front so I went with 255/45/17's and are about 1/2" lower.

While doing this I wanted the sidewall to be the same so you can't tell they are different sizes from the side and from a ride point of view. The sidewalls on my tires are 4.5in front and back yet the are different heights.

The first thing you have to do is play with those calculators and then hope someone has the same combo because lots of things can hit in the wrong places, good luck

Thanks Roco. Those American Racing wheels originally had chrome spokes- I bought them when the car was black and they looked great. After changing to LeMans Blue I felt they would look better with colored spokes. A couple years ago I found a new wheel paint in a color that hit the mark for me.

I did find a tire combo I like. I have new MT Sportsman S/Ts in the same size as the current front tires and I got some MT ET Street Radials in 255/60/15, which are 27" tall (1" shorter than the current rears). They arrived at the house today and I hope to have them mounted tomorrow.

Motorhead, tire options for 15" wheels are pretty limited. For what I was wanting out of the tires I'm confident that I found my best choices.

255/45/17 ZR-Fronts

255/50/17 ZR Rears-Exact overall diameter of the OEM 255/60/15's

The ZR's (168 MPH speed rated, Traction AA, Temp A) are so superior to the tires that are offered in the 255/60/15 size that even though the tread width is about the same between both size tires, the superior construction, superior rubber compound of the ZR's, and the lower profile of the sidewall of the ZR's, make them so superior to the 255/60/15's its not even a wide contest between an ultra high performance summer only tire and the passenger car tires offered in the 15 inch size. For performance, go for a Z/V rated 17/18 inch tire and resist the urge to buy tires based on looks only.

I am still surprised by how good a C3 can handle, steer, and ride using all the OEM
suspension structure (no coil over shocks, no R&P, No borgeson steering boxes) just upgraded components in the OEM locations (composite spring, poly bushings, competition adjustable strut rods. blue printed OEM steering box etc) and GREAT modern tires. Something to think about.
