Z06 low dust brake pads

Who makes/sells the best low dust replacement brake pads for the Z06?

I have a 2011. Not sure if there is any difference between the years.

EdsC6Z06 05-14-2012 10:05 AM

Ceramic pads create less dust, but generally don't stop as well either. I think several companies make ceramic replacements.
I hate the brake dust but I track my car occasionally and don't want to lose any braking power.

Carbotech 1521 compound is the (BEST) This pad will prefrom like stock on the street and cut your dust at least in half of the stock pad. I recomend going with the 1 piece design. You can order direct from me at 216-780-8825. There is no diffrence in years 06-13

The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Good thing you didn't try ceramics for road track days, as know some who've tried it, and wasn't pretty. Almost made it one lap before all braking went out, then spent the next day pulling everything apart, sanding off all the glaze. To the original question. Adam of Carbotech chimed in, and can surely fix you up.

The less dust the less performance..dustless pads just dont bite well

Undy 05-15-2012 06:08 AM

I've got 50K miles on my "street" posi-quiets. They're rotor friendly and ideal for street only.

The best thing.... you avoid the "Corvette tax" at $129 for all 4 corners!

dcsteg 05-15-2012 06:51 AM

OK..I forgot to mention...I don't track the car so loosing the stopping power of the stock GM pads is not a concern if I replace them.

I just want some good street friendly low dust pads.

Thanks so far to those who replied.

:iagree:

There are a few threads on this already, with many different opinions on pads. I recently swapped out my stock padlets for a set of Posi Quiets also, and have been VERY pleased with the low dust and no more low speed squeal. Just remember, no track days with them, they are for STREET USE ONLY!

Maligator 05-15-2012 01:00 PM

so the posi quiets are not a ceramic pad, still metallic, but have a lower dust property?????

sam90lx 05-15-2012 01:22 PM

They have both, you want Ceramics. Mine will be in Friday, cant wait!
Cheap enough for sure and good reviews but as others have said...not for the track.

sam90lx 05-18-2012 05:40 PM

My Centric Posi's are on and though it is too soon to comment on the dust, the braking is just fine! Will update on the dust next week but anything has to be better that the oem's plus damn cheap to boot. These are the Ceramic's by the way.

dmuellenberg 05-18-2012 11:27 PM

I went with the semi metallic Posi Quiets last summer and have been happy with them. They still have brake dust, but not nearly as much as the oem pads.

Undy 05-19-2012 08:40 AM

After the Hawk ceramic pads destroyed my rotors in 25K miles I went with the semi-metalic posi quiets. After 50K miles my rotors are still in great shape. NO MORE CERAMICS FOR ME. The next set of posi quiets (if available) will be semi metallic again. The semi metalics dusted less than the Hawks I had too.

Why one piece pads? I would think a ton of engineering when into the pad-letts. What do you think the advantage is to a single?

More pad material making contact with the rotor would be the first thing that comes to mind.

triblk6spd 05-20-2012 01:28 AM

I run the straight up Hawk Ceramic pads. VERY little dust and very little initial brake bite. I can live with that!

LS9Drew 05-20-2012 02:36 AM

Anyone use Hawk HPS Pads or Stoptech Street Performance? Hows the brake dust and stopping power on both?

Jimmyz28 05-20-2012 08:17 AM

I put the Hawk Ceramics Padlets on mine over a month ago. Much less (85%+) dust than the stockers, just not dustless like the Akebono pads on my Z51. Stops extremely well on the street. Everyone knows that ceramics are not for the track so I don't get all that commentary.

This was my choice: Hawk HPS Ceramic Padlets

Spray your wheels with Armor All wheel protectant. No brake dust at all. Hell of alot easier than changing the pads out if all your looking for is to eliminate dust on the wheels. I've been using the stuff since it came out and it works great.

TPSMak 05-20-2012 11:05 AM

I will have a great option by Monday. We're offering Centric C6Z front and rear ceramic pads for $150 delivered to your door and these are VERY low dust. :D
