Are new GS Chrome wheels/tires worth anything

I should take delivery of my new 2011 GS in a week and it comes with the chrome wheels. I've been thinking about installing the z06 spyder wheels if I don't fall in love with the GS wheels. Are they worth selling? I'm not sure which tires it comes with but I would be replacing them as well.

You can get 1k fairly fast if you post them for sale on this forum.

rcallen484 05-17-2012 07:08 PM

Thousands.

okie08vette 05-17-2012 07:14 PM

Nothing, but I will pay shipping to take them off your hands. LOL

You should be able to get a grand real easy for them.

rcallen484 05-17-2012 07:16 PM

The wheels are a $1995 option. I wouldn't take less than $1000 for them alone. With the brand new tires anyone would be getting a screaming deal at $2000.

TexasMadMan 05-17-2012 07:17 PM

I would think if you took them off when new, you should be able to $1500....maybe a little more if TMS included.

Wow thanks for all of the replies. Looks like I can definitely afford the spyders if I decide to sell! I can't wait to see them in person, they look good in the pics though.

The spyders and gs wheels are two of the best choices there are, both great looking and really compliment the look of any vette.

I saw the chrome spyders on a red z06 in person the other day... I was drooling. If the GS wheels don't wow me then that is definitely the way I'm going!

The chrome option alone is 2 grand. And tires close to 2 more grand. Plus the cost of the wheels. Realistically, you cannot get anywhere close to what the wheels/tires are worth retail, but no way I'd take less than 2 grand either. But I'd try to sell them as a FULL SET for $2,500, and I bet you wouldn't have much difficulty. Yes, I wouldn't touch them since I can tell you from personal experience it's almost impossible to find a tire shop that won't damage the wheels some while removing and reinstalling ultra low profile runflat tires. Plus you don't want to reinstall the tires without the TPMS sensors, since they'd have to be removed yet again to install them. You either sell them as a full set, or separate wheels (with no TPMS) and tires. And you can send me my $100 commission via Paypal . Just kidding. Good luck man.

:iagree:

I like both those styles.

$2500 will almost buy a real set of spyders (non replicas)... I may just have to do that. I don't personally like the runflats so those would have to go one way or another, it's just an around the town cruiser, I have AAA if anything really bad happens.

:iagree: I would seriously think about keeping the wheels. I know Corvette owners say they would never sell their car but it would be worth more with the stock wheels.

I fully plan on selling it, I expect I'll own a C7 in 7 or 8 years. This build is going to be completely CARB legal so I have no issues getting rid of it, had to sell my C5 out of state as nothing on it was legal in CA :D. One of these days I may be rich but until then it's a single toy at a time :).

I bought a set of chrome spyders for my 2012 GS from Bob's House of Wheels and I'm very happy with them. I put brand new Nitto Invo's on and the ride is quiet and smooth. Just don't buy your wheels from West Coast Corvettes. :ack:

Ooh shiny, I really like those. If the GS wheels don't look that good then they are gone immediately :). I think nitto also makes a drag radial that fits, so maybe invos front and something a bit stickier in the rear.

Tires that come on the GS depends on which options you get. You will get Goodyear Supercars, but could either be the 1st generation or the 2nd generation.

I think new OEM Spiders can be purchased for around $1750($4,000 list at your dealer) from House of Wheels.

AFVETTE 05-17-2012 08:36 PM

Spiders on my Z06

phileaglesfan 05-17-2012 08:37 PM

Goodyears stick great, just crap tires otherwise. About the only thing that is clearly stickier and allowed to be driven on the street are Michelin Cup tires in ZR1 sizes.

I think the 2011s have the 2nd gen tires, thats according to the sales rep. Where would I find them for $1700? Repros are about 1100/set so 1700 for lighter wheels sounds like a great deal!
