Do all C6's have the TR6060?
 

Or just the Z06's? Also, I heard the gear ratio's are exactly the same between the T56 and the TR6060. I have a C5Z right now with the MN12, how would the gear ratio's in a base 2012 differ from the MN12?

Don't know anything about the C5s, but here are all the transmission and final drive ratios for the C6 cars:

08+ has the 6060. 07 down has the same T56 as in the c5.

C6 Z51 manual cars have the same tranny as the c5z06 except the c6 has a cooler integrated.

The base model c6 is the same as c5 except for 08+ which is the 6060.

6060 in all from 08-up.

Overview
Both the standard Corvette and the high-performance Z06 use the TR6060 designated as MM6, which is validated to 500 lb-ft of torque, while the TR6060 with the Z51 option features higher ratios and is designated as MZ6. It is validated to 430 lb-ft of torque. The ultra high performance ZR1 uses the TR6060 designated as the MH3, which is validated to 650 lb-ft of torque. The CTSv uses the MG9 version of the TR6060 validated to 560 lb-ft of torque. The Camaro uses the M10 gear set validated to 430 lb-ft of torque.

Didn't know about those other improvements :blueangel:. I was talking about the triple cones in gears 1 thru 4, supposedly implemented in 2011. Any truth to that?

Bet Talon90 can answer that question.

Because the 6060 has 20% wider gears then the T56, the triple cone synchros were part of the 6060 redesign from the start(2008).

Thanks man. Apparently the triple cones are only on gears 1 and 2, not the first 4. Now we know. Seems like a very robust transmission for GS stock power :thumbs:.

Yes indeed...I covet that 6060 trans after breaking my third gear blocker ring twice while drag racing!

At least now I know and understand to a degree why the M6 on the '11 feels o much better than the one on the '07. I knew the transmission had changed for the better, I simply didn't know all that had been done. Since I don't track the car I'm wondering if I even ought to change to an MGW as I did on the '07. It made a heck of a difference on the T-56

I'm not going to man. I'm very happy with this tranny; it has the perfect throws and side gate spacing for my tastes. And shifts great too, with positive engagement and robust feel. Keeps getting better and better after 900 miles. And when I replace the fluid with synthetic at the 3K-mile mark, I'm sure the little notchiness left on the 3-2 downshift will be gone. It's a pleasure to drive and shift this car. I don't understand how others can miss this experience with an auto tranny, even if it's slower than an auto. One of the few pleasures in life I can still enjoy at will :thumbs:.

Yup, I'm right there with ya. I'm just going to buy the new SS sedan for a trip car as it will be easier for the s/o with her back issues to travel in than the Vette. That way I can keep the M6 for me. :D

why does the instruction manual show a 1 quart difference between the z06 and the base?

Z06's, grand sports and z51's have coolers.

And they are necessary and effective on the road course. I run trans and diff temp gauges, the trans never gets above 200, the factory oil cooler works well too but my diff will get up to 280+ after 20-30 minutes which is when I get off track.

The z06's have a diff cooler too for this reason. Wish I had one.

I've seen c5z friends cook manual trannies on the track. 3 of them matter of fact. The trans high temp light never came on (which if I recall correctly comes on at 270 degrees).

If you are going to track your car a trans and diff temp gauge is a good item to have.

There are two different transmissions used on the ZR1, the MH3 and the ME2. Your chart lists the MH3 ratios, the ME2 has ratios of 2.26, 1.58, 1.19, 1, 0.71, and 0.50. :cheers:
