under hood lights
 

ok, what turns on the hood lights? i know it supposed to be a gravity switch but the wires are dead.

Maybe the P/O pulled the fuse. Have you checked for that?

Also check the connectors just forward of each wheel well, it connects the wire on the car-side to the wire on the hood-side. That's how I disconnected mine so they don't kill the battery every time I work on the car.

hmm, where is that darn switch at? maybe its bad?

A mercury switch in the hood light itself I think.

I solved this problem by swapping out the incandescent OEM festoon bulbs for LED's.

The previous owner had unplugged the lights, probably so he could leave the hood open at a car show without killing the battery.
When I discovered the lights were unplugged and plugged them back in, I also discovered those OEM bulbs get HOT! :eek:
That is probably why those lights have glass covers.

So, I pulled the fuse, let the lights cool, and removed a cover to get to the bulb.
Caution... those covers are GLASS. Be careful removing them (they are slotted) because breaking one would ruin your day.

Went to the Superbright LED web site and matched up the bulbs.
I bought mine in bright white. The incandescents are cool white.

Now, I can leave the hood open all day if I want...
I don't have to unplug the lights or pull the fuse...
The LED's burn cool and draw very little power. :thumbs:

was there a number for those leds? wanna replace one in doors also. they get hot enoughto melt the housing.

Just went through my receipts and could not find that particular one.
If you pull the bulb, you can cross reference the number on it on the Superbright site.
When I have time, I'll see if I can find that receipt.

Best advice I can give is to pull one of all your bulbs and match them up.
I used the Superbright bulb advisor and got a few that were wrong.
Best to pull them, get a number, and match them up on their site.

I replaced all of my interior and exterior lights with LED's.
You are right. Those door bulbs get HOT!
I replaced ALL of my interior lights (except the map lights) with red bulbs.
The map lights were replaced with bright white LED's.
The red bulbs give a really cool effect at night. :thumbs:
