Tps bolts?
 

Well I was cleaning things up the other day and noticed that the TPS bolts wouldn't tighten... Pulled the screws and they were bent...I don't believe they were bent by installation I believe some butcher didn't have the right size screws and bent them so they would grip...

So my question... Anyone know the size and thread pitch of the screws that secure the TPS...

you might have to helicoil the threads on the throttle body...Dont know the thread size, sorry.

I can see the threads and they look a little messed up but not stripped out... But the bolts are noticeably way to small for the bolt holes

Go to the dealer and I would think there's a good likely hood that they're maybe still serviced. They're going to be a specialty type head from GM so it's possible that there won't be size/pitch/length available only the part #.

I believe you'll find these bolts/screws to be M4.5 X .75 which is quite difficult to find. I mentioned in the earlier post do the dealer but I'm guessing it will be part of a "fastener package" and maybe $20 or so.

I doubt you'll have any luck finding the M4.5 X .75 - you might want to just tap it to something that you can find if it's a "rush"! I'd guess if it wasn't a rush and I could buy the package for $20 it might be a wise buy considering you mention the threads don't look ruined.

Since you didn't state a year...

The screws don't come separately. You have to buy one of two "kits". Usually they tell you the thread sizes, but not in this case.

On the '85 - '89 cars, KIT5 is 17111606 (AC Delco 213-905), which includes the TPS sensor, two screws and two washers. On '90 - '91, KIT5 is 17112368 (AC Delco 213-908). The AC Delco part numbers are usually easier to find and cheaper.

KIT7 has the TPS screws, TPS screw washers, IAC/coolant cover screws and the top cover screws. '85 - '89 is 17110848. '90 - '91 is 17112369.

It's possible that these parts are long discontinued and no longer available...

I'm sorry guys... It's a 92... Called local dealer and he tells me they can't find it...

:iagree: Just tap the holes to the next larger sae size and use larger screws. You might need to enlarge the holes in the tps.

Well the package that would include the correct screw is NLA (17112832) and I see no stock on dealers shelves so there are 3 solutions. If you need a TPS and your very confident the threads are fine you could buy a TPS, from most vendors the TPS would include hardware ACD/GM for sure, 2nd drill and use M5 X .8 or 3d post an add for a pair of TPS screws.

I'd probably just make the M5 X .8 using a #18 drill bit and an M5 X.8 tap (bottoming if you can find).I believe the bolts should be probably 25mm long but that should be easy to determine. Find the M5 screw that your happy with first then the rest should be easy! Should be!!

I used a hand drill and retapped mine to 8/32, ands they were a little loose at first because the first few threads were stripped. THe threads farther in caught and worked for me.....1986 E.
