Installation Question - DRM Brake Duct Inlets with Quantum Spindle Ducts

I thought these two products were supposed to work well together... but the DRM inlet is 3.5" diameter, and the Quantum spindle duct opening is 2-7/8". Am I missing something here? What's everyone doing to connect the two?

Thanks in advance.

The DRM kit work best with the LG spindle mounts. Not sure what people do to make the quantum mounts work.

I use 3.5" hose and clamp it down on the Quantum duct with a hose clamp.

You can remove a few coils worth of steel band in the hose and clamp it down!!! Use a knife and side cutters.

If you have anymore questions please let me know.

Bumping this because i am curious if anyone else had done this. Not to mention if it does not rub (biggest concern even with OEM 17's up front) it can help someone in the future.

Granted i don't have the DRM kit, just the Quantum kit. Obviously not fully installed yet but the problem of the 3 inch hose connecting to the 4 inch OEM duct was an issue. Bought this PVC adapter to test out. Any feedback is appreciated

That's what I did. Works fine. I can post a pic if you need to see what Randy is talking about.

That'd be great. I get the concept but didn't want to start cutting the tubing until i knew the best way.

Here ya go.

This one might be helpful as well. Make sure you secure the hose to the control arm. Even with that, the hoses seem to be a consumable. I've replaced at least one side per season due to forgetting to limit steering angle. Also, 3  to Randy at DRM for fast turnaround and fair pricing. One of the good guys:salute:

Ahh see I don't have the DRM ducts. Wondering if the way i'll be doing it is plausible and if anyone has done it. Thanks for posting those pics though Zed06

My opinion, you are going to trash those hoses quickly. The DRM hardducts tuck up against the frame for clearance and even then my 285/35-18's will rub. They way you're doing it, that clearance is going to be reduced a bunch. All it takes is a quick oversteer save and you will be hitting that ducting with the inside of your wheels. I think there are guys that have made hard ducts using the C6Z ducts but not sure how much $ that might save over the DRM ducts.

allot the Z06 ducts are about $13 each :woohoo:

I was shredding hoses so reduced the DRM duct with a 3.5" to 3" silicone reducer. Bought bulk 3" heat resistant tubing. Screwed everything together (had to sew the hose to the silicon reducer with zip ties and tape it).

Thanks for the input gents. Going to get some c6 z06 ducts

I put a couple slits in the tube and cut the wire out, then over lapped the cut parts of the hose at the end; wrap with Gorilla tape, then hose clamp. It's held for a couple seasons that way.

Oooo... any more info on how to fit C6Z ducts on a C5?

I knew there was a post here somewhere detailing the install of the C6Z ducts. Yeah cheaper, but enough compromises to validate the higher cost for the DRM ducts when every little bit helps on stock C5 calipers/rotors. Besides, the DRM ducts have decent resale and quickly sell for 50-60% of new cost. Not dissing here, just putting out the pluses on the DRM/ Quantum stuff.

Yea i know the DRM has a bigger inlet for more flow so we'll see. These OEM ducts will suffice for the $30 shipped i'm paying for them. Maybe in time i'll upgrade to the DRM kit

Got the c6Z ducts installed (kind of a PITA with all the hacking) with Quantum spindle and all LOOKS ok for now. I'll have to see if the clearance is ok because my duct sits a tab behind where everyone elses is.
