Looking for reputable corvette shop - Tampa

New to the Tampa Bay, Fl. area. Have a '96 requiring some minor A/C and panel work. Looking for recommendations from the forum as to a reputable vette shop in the Tampa area. Appreciate any feedback from the forum members.

not in tampa, but clearwater - try whisper motorsports. i had some work done there on my son's 85 about 3 years ago when visiting florida for the winter. they did his heater core in 4 hours @ $50/hr labor - i supplied the parts. their resident corvette specialist (and corvette owner) is john wilson. i'm really fussy and critical, but i give these guys a two thumbs up. nice, clean shop, and it looks like they specialize in GM stuff. realistic pricing on labor, and a no excuse effort. i wouldn't hesitate on going back...

their address (at least 3 years ago):

4400 118th ave. n., suite 305
clearwater 33762

I recently used these guys for a tune up: http://www.corvetteshoptampa.com/Default.aspx
Was very happy with the job done and the communication.
Was suggesting myself beforehand to have the injectors changed because of a throttle problem I have been experiencing. They didn't want to go with that because of the cost it would amount to. Turned out it was a vaacum leak.
By the way, these guys also have quite a few tops for sale... $ 500 a piece. Was going to buy a solid one that was already painted BlackRose. Had some scratches, but I was going to go for it. Turned out it was an older (86-89) model :( Not their fault though... Either somebody thought it was correct for a later car, and had it painted, or somebody painted an older car in BlackRose....

2rgeir...Many thanks! I happened to be surfing the web awaiting responses from the forum and ran across these guys. Called them "just to get a sense." A gal answered. I explained my problem and she told me what she thought the cause was and tossed out a "rough" estimate and told me when, if I decided, they could take the car. Estimate was very reasonable and she was very informative. Thanks again for the confirmation. Sounds like this might be the option and not to far of a drive either.

The Corvette Shop has a real good reputation in the bay area. You can find some great used parts for the car too if needed. One of these days I'll go back and pick up a drivers side door panel.

Just FYI, but AutoXTC (aka Whisper Motorsports) has moved to Gandy Blvd. http://autoxtc.com/contactus2.html John has one of the best shop rates in the area and is probably worth the drive. This is the ONLY place I take my '96.

Also on the Pinellas side is Joe @ PowerTech Performance (and a forum sponsor). They mainly do 97s and up but do work on older Vettes. They also have a brand new dyno. Around $50-60 for two pulls with no tune.
