One other tip! If you don't use the special tool and you press (or pull) directly on the pump shaft -- You will break parts inside the pump.

The previous information is 100% correct. Jim |

The installers I have used allowed me to install the pulley farther on the shaft than intended, be sure the outside of the pulley is flush with the end of the shaft when done.

Here is what Bubba did to hold the press fit pulley onto the pump shaft on my vette. Probably did not have the proper tool and just beat the pulley on.

Jim The AIM has a page describing the process and listing the various warnings about procedures to follow to ensure it is done correctly. |

The previous information is 100% correct. Jim Let me get this straight. If you don't use the correct tool, you can damage the inside workings. Is that what you are saying? Txs Bman (Dennis):lol: |
Went and got the tool from Auto Zone, it took all of 3 minutes to put it on, thanks for the help/tips

knife type bearing puller behind the pulley. Support the bearing puller on the press. Press on the shaft and hold your hand under the pump in order not to let it fall. Done deal.
To reïnstall I used the original nut and warmed the pulley up a little bit. Make sure that you have the pump on the engine so you can align the belt. |

I'm not a big fan of cheap tools, but I popped for this and it's not bad...

http://www.harborfreight.com/pulley-...set-40749.html HB specialty tools are good for the occasional or one time use. And they do have lifetime warranty on hand tools so you cannot go wrong there. If I was working in a garage fulltime I would add to my Snap-on, MAC, Craftsman, etc tools. Bman  |
the installer tool is a bolt with a nut and thick washer. If you look at your pump, the inside of the shaft is threaded.... use a tough bolt, but all-thread and a propane torch will also work in a pinch (heat the pulley while it is off the pump, use your welding gloves to set in place). Amazingly it doesn't take that much pressure to push it into place with the bolt and nut
