Crate motor for my C3

I am looking to purchase a turn key crate motor for my 79 C3. I am considering importing one from the US (as I am in AUS). Has anyone had any dealings with or can provide some opinion on either the 'Engine Factory' or 'Performance Unlimited'? Both seem to offer comparable packages. Next thing is do I go a 350 or 383 Stroker. I would appreciate any comments or advice. PS: TH350 & 3:55 diff.
Cheers, Colin

I would go with a 383 .get your dynamic compression where you need it with the right cam choice.what octane gas can you get ?did you look at Jegs or Summit ?also consider Bill Mitchell racing.

I have a ZZ4 and love it. However, between the two, get the stroker. I got mine through Jegs. Cheapest at the time.
Either way you go, you will love the performance difference.

A fellow forum member stated it correctly. Cheap, fast, durable, pick two. You get what you pay for. What power level are you looking for what trans, rear gearing, intended use and what budget do you have.

I'm looking for a new motor to go with my newly installed 700R4. Man, the choices are endless it seems. All I want is fast (but not scary fast) with good cruise mpg. I don't want to go the LS route.

I have a Year One 383 and it screams.
Excellent company.

Trans is TH350. Diff ratio is 3:55. I would like 400+HP. Budget? What is a budget??? Seriously though, I expect to pay $6-$7K for a turn key crate motor.

I can get premium unleaded (95 Octane). I will have a look at the other contacts you suggested. Had a brief look at Summit, but as someone said there are so many choices. Was hoping someone may have had some personal experience with one of these companies. Thanks for your help.

Hi Colin,

Check out this website. http://www.tristarengines.com/perfor...tar-series.php

I've ordered the 427 small block. I've checked around at all the online vendors I could find and this company appears to have the best prices.
