Please post photos of your catch can system for C4s
I am planning on updating my C4 oil catch can system and would appreciate any photos of your system. Thanks! |
What specifically do you want to see? LT1 or L98?
For my LT1 I simply installed a can on the firewall and ran tubes from each valve cover to the can. It really never puked oil, a couple drops after a race weekend. That's more of an LS thing... http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...r/IMG_1946.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...Rebuild025.jpg |
Thanks, Scary
I apologize for being so vague. I have a 90 SuperRam, L98. I like your set up. It looks very good to me. Some day I will post before and after photos. Thank you. |
I have had 3 versions on my car.
Version 1 was done as a bandaid at the track with a Gatorade bottle: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...90829-1323.jpg Version 2 used a $16 Summit brand 1 qt container: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...0/IMG_9506.jpg Version 3 is in the same spot as Scary's, but I used regular hose barbs instead of AN fittings (I dont have good pictures but it can be seen in some of these, I can get more tomorrow). http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...-20-20_781.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...17-08-57_0.jpg |
Do the L98's have oil vapor issues or is this jsut a little insurance? I never needed it on the LT1. And I suppose it's no secret but you sure don't need to waste the money on the braided steel lines, I just think they look cool:) They're gone now, but then again so is the LT1.

The Gatorade bottle was necessary cause on long left sweepers the throttle body was sucking up oil through the PCV tube because the engine was worn and creating crank case pressure. The red catch can replaced the bottle for no reason other than the fact that a $16 bottle was cheaper than an engine rebuild. Now that the new engine is in the overflow is there for "just in case".

Tested one quite awhile back. From what I've learned a PCV system is better for my combo. They work pretty well!!! An old pic:
