Show off your bumper lettering

I'm having a hard time deciding on whether or not to pull the trigger on some front and rear bumper lettering inserts. Give me some ideas

Yes, I got the thing in the center too. Looks way better.

I don't like enhancer plates.

I agree with the chrome stainless steel. I had torch red with the chrome letters.

Here is the lettering on the back of my car - it's the older version of the Brakelight Red that Ecklers used to sell. They do not make that particular pattern anymore, but still sell a color called Brakelight Red. I much prefer the old color over the new though.

This pic shows what was on my car when I bought it - high polished stainless steel lettering:

Where did you get the black chrome letters? I may have to go that route if it looks good on black.

A friend of mine had those on his black C5 vert. It looked really good, however he has since traded into a C6.

They were really nice and also reflective. Someone said before that they began remaking them, but no longer reflected light.

I just noticed these from Actionautoaccessories.com. They are Titanium black...a bit pricey but they look great. Anyone have these?

I thought Ecklers still carried them. Not sure if they are the originals or not.

As much as I like this I'm trying to wrap my head around if it would be possible and how much work would be involved to cut out the pressed in letters on our C5s butts and rig up a light to illuminate the letters in brake light red. Anyone know if the lettering is flush on the inside of them? Perhaps a lot of patience and a dremel...Hmmmmm...

I would strongly suggest passing on that idea. Remember when Pontiac did that with the "PONTIAC" lettering on the back of the Sunfires? Those were nasty!

Thanks:thumbs: Spectrum, depending on the angle of the light it will change colors. I don't think they sell it anymore.

To answer a PM, they are the raised 3 dimensional insert that is made of 3M material. I got them in chrome from Vette Works International, here: http://vetteworksintl.com/3DC5rearletters.html

 I was thinking "that" spectrum (light), but never seen any bumper graphics like that on a Vette. That should be nice, changing colors with the angle of light....

I ordered some last night (different company specializing in custom emblems/hydrographics), but I'm keeping with my black/pewter theme.

Yours look great MSG. My concern is how long they last, how hard are they to install (I have seen lots that look tacky when not installed absolutely perfectly - same reason I ripped off my glovebox letters and my steering wheel letters) and do they make it any harder to wash the car?

Jax

Since the letters are positioned directly in the recessed areas, the install is pretty easy and straightforward. It's pretty hard to mess it up. Over the years, I've been through 3 different letter sets...

My first set were the chrome letters offered by WCC. They looked nice, however after five years, they started to look their age primarily due to the sharp edged letters and the fact that my MF towels, wash cloths, etc. would always catch on the corners causing the edges to chip.

My second set was the 3D vinyl letters from Cyberdine. They also looked nice, however I lost a few letters when driving through a heavy summer Florida rainstorm. I prepped the area well, etc., however because the letters were so light and flimsy, they didn't stand a chance in the heavy rain.

My current set is the SS letters offered by Mid-America and they are by far my favorite. I like that they have a raised/3D look due to the foam backing/adhesive. I also like that they have rounded edges which IMO look better and help prevent any type of snags while cleaning, waxing, etc. They are also rock solid. I had to sacrifice my original rear set when I had my lower rear fascia painted. To prevent a raised paint line, I had the entire rear fascia re-cleared so I had to remove the letters. Like the other sets, I had prepped the area and then used a bonding pen to help form a strong bond. As a result, it took me awhile to remove the letters so I'm confident that they won't go anywhere unless I want them to! Below is a link...

You really can't see it in a picture but I have halogen red from Corvette Central. It's kinda like the brake light color. In the sun it jumps out at you.
