WTB 1968 door lock bezel

The outside door lock bezel on my 1968 Vette came loose. I see one of the tabs is broken and the bezel will not stay in place securely. Does anybody have this bezel for sale at a realistic price? Thanks!

i found one at ecklers corvette last year,,forget how much, maybe 40.00 dollars.hard to find.

they stopped reproducing these a few years back. Can't figure out why.

FYI, sound nuts but mine did the same thing..I glued it back on.

Vette Flashbacks 12-01-2012 06:47 PM

Yes, I heard Eckler's had them at one time. Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks AvalonJohn for the feedback. What glue did you use to re attach the bezel?

Hi Larry / If I recall I used jb weld but I am sure others may have another favorite. It's been about four years and it has not come off. I heard the repros were notorious for coming off.

Found one but 2 tabs broken off. Sorry BK3

Just curious - how can you tell an OE original from a repop???

Thanks for the additional info, John.

thanks for looking BK3. I don't know anything (good or bad) about the repro bezels.

Not certain this will work but,Corvette Central stocks an item that may work. Try their web site, part number 501086, $11.50 each

I think this is what the OP was referring to. Unfortunately every site I visit shows it being discontinued. I don't think any other part will work. Sucks.

Thanks for your assistance. The eBay listing you kindly passed on to me is for the "interior" door. I need the round stainless bezel that surround the push button on the "exterior" door. :lurk:

Thanks Phil. The part you referenced in the Corvette Central catalog is for a C2. Won't fit on the '68.

I was able to re-attach the bezel that fell off my Vette. I used clear silicone to attach it and it did the trick. However, I am still looking for a bezel just in case. :D

I do appreciate your help.

Larry

You're right, AvalonJohn. This bezel is hard to find but somebody somewhere surely has one. Fortunately I still have mine even though the tab is broke. I used clear silicone to re-attach it the bezel to the door. Seems to be holding tight. I am still looking for a replacement just in case. THANK YOU.

I would try to fabricate a duplicate tab out of SS and try to solder or glue it to the back.
You should be able to polish it up after soldering.

Thanks for the suggestions. It is an interesting idea.
